I have a 2009 Dodge Avenger with leather seats. Two years ago I noticed the driver seat had a split in the leather. I automatically blamed my children. I have twin daughters, 25 years of age, one weighs 100 lbs, the other 108 lbs. I just assumed they had clothing on that had sharp buttons or something that split the seat. They became aware of everything they were wearing every time they drove the car. Shortly after another split, then another, then another!!!! Now there are five splits and another tiny one starting. I myself weigh 140 lbs. I am the person who drives the car the most. I do not drive long distances. Never in the car for more than 30 minutes at a time. Work close to home, most family member live close to my home as well. No one hangs over the seat so there is no added stress to the seats. I have had leather seats before and know the signs of aging leather and this is not the sign of aging leather. It is definitely not wear and tear!!!
Today I happened to glance at the passenger seat while driving and noticed that seat was starting to split. No one sits in the passenger side most of the time!!!! I drive to work alone!!! I am so pissed right now. We tried taking the car to the dealership we purchased it from. They said it was wear on the leather and would not cover the replacement of the leather. Not cheap!!!! Of course I have no choice but to put up with it, however what will happen when I go to sell the car, no one will want it like that!!! It's not even that old. Very very disappointed. Have always driven Chrysler products because my husband works there but not sure I would buy another!!! Is here anyone out there who has experienced this problem? Mary
