The TPMS warning light came on but tires were fine. At that time the engine would stall at take off and for a few miles after. As for the airbag, when I adjust the drivers seat, the airbag light would come on and stay on during the drive. I checked for recalls on this site and found that both of them were on but when I called the warranty they said that my VIN was not listed but the year make and model was. I took it in and they charged me $100 for diagnostics! they said they fixed it but it still stalls and the light still comes on.
I was stopped at a red light; once the light turned green, I stepped on the gas to go and the vehicle jerked lightly; the warning light for which I now know is the throttle body sensor, blinked on and off; I attempted to give it gas but it would not go past 10 mph; the rpms went up but the speedometer would not move; I have not had any other issues with the vehicle after owning it for 5 years with regular maintenance; the brake down occurred at 101,700 miles; the vehicle is currently being repaired at Dodge dealership at a cost of $530
Throttle position warning indicator (red lightning bolt) lit while at highway speed, sudden loss of power, could not drive vehicle over 35 mph. Problem happened twice during a two week time frame, during cold/ snowy conditions.
I've owned the car since it was new. A couple of times this past summer when filling the fuel tank, the fuel overflowed before the gas nozzle automatically shut off. At first I thought it was a faulty gas nozzle. Recently it has been overflowing every time I fill up, regardless of which gas station or pump. The past 5-6 times it has overflowed. It is a significant amount of fuel that comes back, and it doesn't just trickle out. If you are not standing off to the side it will spray you. Then it runs down the side of the car and the left rear wheel. I am careful to stop the pump before it gets full, but even then it sometimes overflows. I would estimate the average amount of fuel spillage to be around 12 ounces.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to pick up speed upon depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact noticed upon removing the wiring harness there was an internal fire, which burned the components pertaining to the fuel pump that burned into the fuel tank and the housing. The vehicle was not able to be driven due to the failure. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07V426000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

The etc(electronic throttle control) light came on and essentially put the car into limp mode and almost caused my wife to end up in an accident driving at roughly 75mph in rush hour traffic. Took it to the shop and they replaced a valve and said the codes were reading that it had restricted air flow. The problem happened again resulting a potential accident on the interstate. Through research, I have come to find out its the throttle body and Dodge's inability to put quality into their parts. Example being the plastic gears within the etc unit of the throttle body. I understand that problems occur and parts break but with the amount of complaints that I have seen about this particular issue, Dodge needs to be held responsible for putting this kind of low quality craftsmanship within their vehicles.
My 2008 Dodge Avenger has been intermittently losing rpms while driving for the past two months. The body shop initally told me that I needed my throttle body cleaned and a new battery. I paid for these repairs and the next day my car was doing the same thing. I am so afraid that I will be in an accident when the car loses power and I have to either continuously pump the gas pedal or put the car in neutral and then restart the car while it is still moving. I am only able to pull off the road half the time and the rest of the time other vehicles are behind me going at the speed that I was going prior to the car losing power...sidenote there is power to the car itself because the radio or the ac will still be on but the engine gets no gas. I would really like for Chrysler/Dodge to let us consumers know what is going on because I see that a lot of people are experiencing the same issue.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact was a certified mechanic, who inspected the fuel pump and discovered that the wire connected to the fuel pump was burned inside the fuel tank. The contact repaired the vehicle and notified the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 80,000.
When refueling, gas tank does not vent properly which results in a significant amount of gas being burped out of the fill tube resulting in spilled fuel. Often spilled fuel splashes onto driver, rear quarter panel, and drivers side rear wheel. Safety is always a concern when there is unexpected and unnecessary fuel spills.
As vehicle was being filled with fuel after 1.7 gal, fuel violently sprayed out of fuel fill and saturated my entire upper torso and splashed into left eye. (eye was flushed with water upon returning home and a hospital visit was avoided) every time this vehicle and many other Avengers have fuel added to the tank, it is reported that there is a severe splash back or spit back that occurs causing a severe potential of severe risk to life, health and the environment via flame, fire, explosion or contamination. Dealer claims that per Chrysler the fuel filler neck needs to be replaced at my cost. After very thorough investigations on my own, it appears that there are numerous complaints of the same issue and the dealers are replacing fuel filler necks and complete fuel tanks where the whole issue is caused by a fuel safety rollover valve located within the fuel system. This is no joking matter. None of these repairs should hold the owners responsible for the costly repairs of the faulty fuel system with such numerous reports of failure.
Every time it rains and I drive the vehicle at stop light or a any complete stop. Engine starts stalling. Then cuts off. This issue has gone for about 4 months only when it rains. Check engine comes on with code P2004( manifold runner bank 1 stuck open.) I have replaced the whole manifold with new parts I bought from Dodge dealer. Check engine light doesn't go away after trying to delete code. I was told that I had to go to Dodge dealer to get it reprogram which will cost me. Should have to pay to get reprogram if I exchange parts on the car.
When filling up gas tank, pump doesn't shut off properly. Happens at every pump. Had gas tank replaced once because fuel tank rollover valve had melted shut. Worked for about 1,000 miles with new tank, once again shoots out gas and does not shut off automatically. Seems to be a common problem with Dodge Avengers 2008, however Dodge does nothing about it. Epa will go crazy if they find out, along with the fact that it is outright dangerous to have fuel coming back out of the tank onto the ground. Greater than half a gallon comes out each time. Slowing pumping, burping, fueling fast, holding nozzles at different depths does nothing to alleviate issue.

I bought this vehicle used in January 2012 and every single time I fuel up, no matter what gas station, etc. The fuel shutoff does not work and gas is spewed all over the side of the car along with me or anything else close to the car. The only way to avoid this it to guess at when it is getting full and stop it before it gets full. This has to be a safety hazard as it is spewing gasoline everywhere. I have seen many reports of this problem and all suggest a fuel tank replacement at around $1000. Not many people can afford that and this is just an accident/explosion waiting to happen. This should definitely be a recall.
When filling up the gas tank, the pump clicks off but then a bunch of gas spurts out of the tank onto the car and ground. This is incredible unsafe and environmentally hazardous. Repair is about $1000. Given the number of previous reports on relatively low mileage vehicles, this should be a recall.
When filling the car up you cant get 1.5 gals in before it spits fuel out on you and the side of the car. The fuel tank is collapsing and pushing fuel out of top of tank and onto the ground while parked and driving really worried about causing undercarriage fire and I have research this and a lot of people are having the same issue. The dealer cost almost $1,000 to fix it, we need to make this a recall for the people's safety as well as my family's thank you.
When filling the gas tank the gas comes shooting back out of the tank. This has happened since I purchased the vehicle in 9/2010 and has consistently gotten worse. It now happens every time I fill the tank unless I stop it before it is completely full. I have been completely soaked in gasoline because of the velocity of the gas coming back out of the tank. I have contacted Dodge as there are recalls on Jeep for the same issue and there is currently not a recall on the Dodge vehicles.
Numerous times (seemingly when cold) the gas tank will spit gas out after the nozzle clicks off. Will spray all on the car and the ground. Potentially very dangerous...
Received indicator light that electronic throttle control failed, in the middle of traffic my car dropped speed to 20 miles an hour, I was almost rear ended with two children in my car. I have spoke to several Dodge certified mechanics and they has all attested that this is a known issue but not being fixed. I called Dodge and they said my issue was an isolated incident. When I told them that I spoke to their mechanics and research and found hundreds of other customers with this issue they said and I quote "you can find anything you want if you search long enough". some one is going to get killed if their car drops to 20 miles an hour on a freeway.
While driving my car, the electronic throttle control light came on and the car lost power and would not accelerate. I have researched this problem and it seems that it is a common occurrence. Please recall now for safety reasons!
