electrical problem
had dealer replace part. the bearings were worn out and it should had lasted longer

Took my wife's car to the dodge house because it was making noise they told me my extended warranty would cover . Got call back and found out it was the alternator - cost 600 dollars. warranty does not cover. dodge is a joke, I will never buy another one. Going back to chevy they have a true car - the carmaro and the malibu. Dodge can give it up!!!!!

Several trips made to the Florida and Alabama have taken its toll on this piece of @#%*(@#. The alternator is cheaply made and out of all the cars I have owned in my lifetime I have never had so many problems with one. The cost came at a time when I did not have the 1000.00 dollars the mechanic wanted to replace it. After the car was parked in my garage for two weeks, relying on friends and family to shuttle me around, I purchased another alternator for 300.00 and installed it myself with the help of a friend, it would have been nice if Dodge put a serpentine belt diagram within the engine area like every other maker does. I will most definetly and without doubt never purchase a Chrysler or Dodge related car or truck in the remainderr of my lifetime.

PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED ON JULY 23 AND HAD TO GET A JUMP THE NEXT DAY. HAVE HAD FIVE JUMPS IN FIVE DAYS, JUST REPLACED THE BATTERY AND DROVE 1 MILE HOME AND NOW IT WON'T START.

Absolutely furious. The Alternator should have never gone out this soon. A year ago, while car was still under warranty, I took to Dealership TWICE reporting and rattling sound from the same area that the Alternator is located. They said they couldn't find any problem and after the second visit to the Dealership, the sound went away. I am CONVINCED that this was the beginning of the Alternator problems and I am CONVINCED that Dodge knows this is a problem and I am CONVINCED that Dodge is ignoring the problem. I asked the mechanic at the Dealership how often this type of problem occurs on this car with this mileage (2008-64,000 miles) and he said, "NEVER".
I am a single parent working my tail off to make ends meet. The last thing I needed was such an EXPENSIVE problem. I did speak with Dodge Customer Service and they said they couldn't help me because the car is out of warranty and I don't have an extended warranty. I, however, am not done. I will be meeting with the owner of this Dealership and the District Manager as well. I am more than willing to pay for the labor but I want the cost of the Alternator ($400.00) credited to me.
Words cannot describe how upset I am about this and I have better things to do with my time than chase this problem down but I have to tell you..this one really bothers me and I will not stop until I get sufficient answers. Again, I believe this is a defect in the car and Dodge is intentionally ignoring the problem due to the expense of replacing this particular part. As a side note, when I picked up my car the "Check Engine" light was still on. I went back into the office and brought this to the mechanics attention. He said, "Oh..that's a problem with your Evac System" I said, "Why didn't you tell me this when you did the initial diagnostic on the Alternator issue." He said, "Well that's another $85.00 to accurately diagnose that problem." I was floored and had to leave the Dealership immediately, lest I say something very inappropriate.
Any information anybody has on this concern would be greatly appreciated.

Car manuel never states anything about the alternator having to be inspected, but my alternator has to be changed I bought my 2008 Avenger in 2008, it was used and already had 30000 miles on it. Here I am in 2010 having to get a new alternator put into the vehicle that is nto covered under any warrenty that is offered for Dodge.

My 2008, the alternator went this past month! This is one problem among many others we are dealing with this car. I bought it with 6 miles on the car, had the car serviced every time was needed, I told this to the dodge dealership that repaired my car, there response was, "
it is a man made product, and those sometimes do fail." So I shouldn't pay $475.00 a month for a vehicle that is faulty due to DODGE SELLING ME A LEMON.
