: the contact stated when the vehicle was started in cold weather, the steering was exceedingly tight. When the steering was finally able to be turned, there was a popping noise while turning in either direction. The vehicle was taken to a private repair shop, where it was determined that the power assist steering rack needed replacement. The manufacturer was also notified. Updated 12/5/2006 -
