Chrysler T&C had to have new transmission put in right about the 80k-90k mark. NEVER EVER have we replaced a transmission in our cars. We were without the car for a few weeks causing major inconveniences for us as we work an hour from home (the miles are all hwy and we use cruise control all the time if that matters). We have now named the car Christine as we are experiencing major issues with this POC. We WALK by the van with the key in our hand open palm---the windows open, the sliding doors open, the hatch opens, we'll get in and the same thing with happen. We'll be driving and the window will go down. Sometimes it'll lock/unlock itself. Upon occasion when it decides it wants to mess with us.....the entire dashboard panel will flash EVERY SINGLE LIGHT on the panel and the dials will go all the way to the right two or three times. The car is now sometimes turning over and over and over trying to start.

Frankly at this point we are waiting for it to catch fire and lock us in---we LITERALLY have a full size metal hammer in the car to break out a window in the event of an emergency. We've taken it to various shops and they think its an electrical issue---some shops recommend replacing the dashboard panel to the tune of 1300.00--uh no...and aren't sure if that will fix the issue, the Chrysler dealership wants a few hundred to look at it with no guarantee of finding an issue or being able to fix it---uh no. ALL of these things happen in various weather conditions, doesn't matter if it is hot, cold or a beautiful day, raining or dry, ac on or off whatever....it just happens. The van has about 130k miles on it now and the interior trim is falling off, the carpet is pulling out from under the trim by the back hatch where we have put the seats down into the cargo area (only pulled down a few times a year at the most, the driver seat trim where the seat buttons are is cracked, the arm rests have come off in the back seat. We do not abuse our cars----we do not have toddlers---we take care of our autos, regular oil changes, maintenance etc---our buick is approaching 200k and running strong. NOTHING like this--not even close!!

We've dumped the cost of another car into this vehicle and it is still an issue--we are currently looking to get rid of it. We will NEVER EVER NEVER EVER OWN ANOTHER CHRYSLER.

Update from Jul 15, 2019 I forgot to mention the passenger side head rest keeps falling off.

Town & Country 4DR WGN Touring-L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 92,728 miles

This problem is reoccurring. The vehicle is being driven when the dash lights up. The tacometer, gas gauge, and speedometer drop to zero. A red jagged lights which resembles an H is on intermittently with the low oil and low gas light. Heat, radio dash lights go black. Red BRAKE light turns on with green directional light and red air bag light on. Every yellow warning light turns on in upper right area of dash. Problem persisted intermittently (every few seconds) for a half hour until we reached our destination. There was an initial beeping sound before the dash lights went on. The intermittent seconds that the dash lights went out, the heater area of lights continued to blink on and off. The dash would read 'automatic high beams on' and seconds later, 'automatic high beams off'. The directionals weren't functioning properly and not sure if headlights remained on (were on automatic and it was dusk).

Town & Country ES 3.6L V6

My car has shut down several times today. I was parked twice when it happened and the last time was scary because it died while I was drive it in the middle of a busy road. I tried to start it and it just turned and turned. I had plenty of power. It sat in the middle of the road for about 10 minutes and then tried to start it and it started. What the hell? My brother seems to think it's the fuel filter or fuel pump.

Update from Aug 19, 2017: Tried to start my car and my vehicle just turns and turns like a vehicle does when it runs out of gas. My car even stalled on me after the first complaint it just shut off completely. The radio time changed as if my batter had went dead or had been disconnected. This problem is really getting annoying. Vehicle started when I tried it two hours later. I am very worried especially after my van stalled in the middle of the road while I was traveling at about 40 mph.

Update from Aug 19, 2017: After a week of having this problem I finally took my car to Pep Boys for a diagnostic test. I was informed that it wasn't the fuel filer or fuel pump. The said the module TPIM was going bad and needed to be replaced. Cost with the part $1400 to repair. What the hell!!! Are you serious. Please tell me there is a recall on this issue. I googled it and it seems to be a problem with this Chrysler and well as others. I can't believe this isn't on the recall list. This is dangerous for your car to just stall without warning. I never know now if my car is going to start. $1400 is a great deal of money. This is crazy!!

Town & Country

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,600 miles

This is a relatively new vehicle. I am a handicapped driver and I had to have the van fully equipped with a lift for my power wheelchair. I was told by the Chrysler dealer, that the problem was the TIPM device. Through extensive research, I have discovered there is a nationwide back order on the TIPM device and it could take months to get this in. Meanwhile, I am totally dependent on my elderly father to get me to and from work The Chrysler dealer has not come right out and mentioned anything about the nationwide back order for the part. It has now been 3 weeks and they still have the van, waiting for the part. If this is a well known problem with Chrysler, why are they still installing these computer devices in vehicles. From what I have read about the malfunction, my family and I were lucky, as it could have posed a real danger to our safety while traveling.

Town & Country Touring 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 34,000 miles

Started the van and the wipers came on and wouldn't turn off. Turned off van and turned it back on, same thing happened. Then noticed that NONE of the electronics were working (dash, navigation, DVD, a/c, windows, sliding doors, back hatch)! Left van in driveway and called husband...

Two nights before,we had a bad storm and lightening struck the house and we lost our a/c and several other items, so we initially assumed the van MUST have been affected by the lightening, (although we did have a truck sitting in the same driveway that was OK)....so we called our insurance company and had it towed to the nearest Chrysler dealership...

By the time the dealership looked at it, they said the engine wouldn't even start...AND the main computer was bad and they needed to order a new one...BUT it was back ordered...meanwhile our insurance company put us in a rental car...

Meanwhile my husband called the dealership everyday asking for an update. After about 3 days they told him that not only are there none in the country, but "they don't have the material to make the parts"!?!

This morning (on a Sunday no less) our insurance company calls and tells us to take the rental car back because they are not going to pay this claim. They said they don't think it was caused by lightening (even though they handled and settled our homeowner's claim) and said it is a mechanical issue.

So...I started to do some research online and found out that Chrysler has been having major problems with TIPMs in several of their vehicles which has led to massive back orders....hmmmm...off to the dealership tomorrow to see what they are going to do...

Town & Country Stow & Go

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

MY VAN REFUSED TO START ON SUNDAY AUGUST 10. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THEM. I WAS LUCKY IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED. THEY WERE ABLE TO GET IT WORKING, BUT COULD NOT GUARANTEE IT WOULD NOT GO RIGHT BACK OUT. TO ME THIS IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE TO BE DRIVING.

IT HAS BEEN TWO WEEKS, AND THE LAST WORD I HAD FROM THE DEALERSHIP WAS THAT THERE WAS NO ETA ON WHEN THEY WOULD RECEIVE A REPLACEMENT PART. WHAT LITTLE INFORMATION I HAVE IS THAT THE PROBLEM MAY DATE BACK TO 2007. THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL, BUT I FEEL THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN. WHEN AND IF I GET A REPLACEMENT, DOES MY 36,000 MILE WARRANTY BEGIN AGAIN? I FEEL VERY STRONGLY IT SHOULD.
