On November 20, 2019, we were out and when we go into our van, it would not start. After several tries, it started and we came home, put it in the garage. The next morning it would not start at all so we had to have it towed to our mechanic. He kept it until Monday and put a fuel pump on it. We picked it up and came home and put it in the garage. The next morning Tuesday November 26, 2019, it would not start again. So back to our mechanic who discovered it was the fuel pump relay and wires. Our mechanic discovered this very thing was a recall on some dodges, so he went to Chrysler who had the recall kit, but couldn't sell it to him. He had to buy the parts separately.
Since our van is a 2012 with 96,000 miles, we did not even think we needed to go to the dealer. Upon hearing about the recall on the same thing in other cars, we wrote to Chrysler, but they said since we hadn't gone to the dealer and there was no recall on the Chrysler, they could not reimburse us any for our expenses. We had read other complaints on the computer about this same problem with the Chrysler, so why wasn't it a recall. We are not happy with this at all.
We bought our Chrysler brand new and it is the first one we have ever owned. So there was another bill at our mechanic for the relay and wires. We do not understand why this problem was not a recall on the Chrysler as well as the other vehicles. It is the same problem, so it could leave people stranded. We have had all our oil changes and services done at the Chrysler dealership and we have one more oil change we have paid for. Our feeling now is that Chrysler has let us down, so our thought is to cut ties with them.
