Picked up our van last night from the Chrysler dealership after them having it for almost two weeks... they said at first it was the power train computer module and the part was back ordered. They tried a used one while they were waiting for the certified part (we have a certified warranty that came with the van when we bought it), and it didn't solve the issue. They called and told us it was the TIPM, so we just shelled out $600 for the TIPM. Van is still starting hard today!!!! ughhhhhhhhh!!! So over Chrysler not fixing this issue! All the problems I've read with this van all have this issue! SO incredibly frustrated!!!

We have been doing research on this and it seems to be an issue with this vehicle. Here is the what is happening:

I turn the key nothing happens for about 3 seconds. Then it will try to turn over but it will not start. Eventually it does start. I fear my started is going to go bad next with how many times we have to try to start the vehicle. My husband has replaced the Neutral Safety Switch, and the Fuel Pump Relay. These were things we found online that seemed to cause the same exact symptom I am having with this van. He also replaced the battery and battery cables. Now he is wondering if it has something to do with either the key or the ignition as, it seems, that if he presses down on the key, it starts. Not sure, as I purchased Used and was only given one key. None of this has fixed the problem. We are at a loss and neither have the money to go further or the ability to keep going with out the use of the van. So, it is a definite hardship.

won't start won't start won't start

When we went to turn the van on, it wouldn't turn over. Fuel pump came on, we could hear the relay, lights came on, radio was on. It just wouldn't start. We thought it was the starter, checked it out and it was working fine. Checked the battery and it was fully charged. Checked the fuses and they were all working fine. Called it a day. The next morning it turned on for about 30 seconds then turned off. We checked everything again to no success. ETC light came on as well as the battery light and a red circle (I think the anti-theft). Found other forums online with the same issues stating it was the TIPM. The 3rd day it turned on for about 2 minutes and then turned off again. Called a Chrysler dealership and had it towed. 3 days later they confirmed it was the TIPM. Hopefully, no more issues.

Would not start, had the replace the battery 2 times. The repair shop replaced the fuel pump. Went home next day it would not start. Got it started to take it back the repair shop. On the way there it shut off in the middle of the interstate. When I got home I Googled and found out that the tipm was faulty keeping the fuel pump on and draining the battery and drained it fast enough it just burned up the relay.

Chrysler IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AS IT WAS PART OF A PREVIOUS RECALL THAT Chrysler REVISED AND OMITTED Chrysler AUTO'S AND ONLY SERVICE DODGE AUTOS.

BUYER BEWARE- No crank - no start

I am 80 years old and Chrysler has placed myself and my family in serious danger. Just last Wed my wife avoided a serious accident when the car shut off when entering a main highway and the vehicle had to towed for the fourth time !

THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CAR AND THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

Update from Jun 4, 2018: Car is still not running, going on for 5 months. Three possible solutions. Replace PCM, replace TIPM or lastly replace WIN Module. Estimating cost is 1200- $1500.00 each item, but does not guarantee to fix the problem.

Car wouldn't start and dealer just called me to say it was the Power Module and the Win Module and it will cost 2,000 to fix. After researching what this was, come to find out, this is a known issue with Chrysler.

Town & Country Touring Ed 3.6L V6

The car had starting issues last year around this time already. Brought it to the dealer, they could not find the problem as it was occurring randomly and it disappeared fully afterwards. They should have known as this is so common for this car and other Chrysler models.

This year it is much more severe. The fuel pump relay in the TIPM did not open after turning off the car. The result was a dead battery in the morning as the fuel pump was running the whole night. My wife had a stall of the motor in front of the Kindergarden also, not funny to loose control with all the kids around.

It is a shame, Chrysler is not recalling all those defective TIPM's.

The repair of a relais is usually not a big deal, but because of the, sorry, stupid integration into the TIPM it is a one thousand dollar repair. Awesome fix for a 5$ component. Again, the car dealer was not able to identify the problem, huh?

Dealership also offered, after I asked for, to install a fix from the Dodge Durango or Jeep Grand Cherokee recall for 300$, but they do not guarantee it will fix the problem.

I am also considering the fix from verticalvisions for $200 - with the guarantee to send it back, if it does not work.

Car wouldn't start- Battery was drained. This occurred two weeks after transmission overhaul. Later determined to be caused by a faulty TIPM.
