My problems showed up just after my warranty. We were just damn lucky if happen after being out of state and not while driving. What really pisses me off is that this is a KNOWN issue and they have only fixed some of the vehicles with this problem.
It's funny they came up with a cheaper option with the bypass. I suspect to save them money for when they have been forced to fix the problem.
Pretty much the same as the other complaints. Wouldn't start, kept trying and finally started and I took it right home. We tried starting it in the driveway and same thing, sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't. My husband is handicapped, which is why we bought a new van in 2011, but he can't take a chance of being stranded in this vehicle. I will NEVER buy another Dodge or Chrysler product again!!! We have a 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan that had the same problem. Cost us a fortune trying to get it repaired until I found this website and someone else with the exact problem. Why aren't they doing a recall on this problem? Car stops while being driven! That's not dangerous enough? How many people have to died before they decide to make Chrysler fix it?
Like many other reviews on this site, my wife's car was having trouble turning over but would eventually start for a day or so. One morning, it would start but immediately shut off and it had to be towed. At this point I had done some research and sure enough it was a faulty TIPM. The guys that repaired it seemed to do a great job and mentioned how many similar complaints they had seen on the Town & Country. Very frustrating that this recall was not accepted and so many people are out $1000+ based on the same faulty part, especially when it was recalled in the Durango and Grand Cherokee.
TIPM failure on car. Has caused multiple issues that I have had to fix including: Fuel Pump failure, power switches on door locks, light system, blinker system.
