The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler Town and country. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14V373000 (air bags, electrical system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While attempting to exceed 20 mph, the vehicle failed to shift gears and the rpms accelerated exponentially; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate along with the rpms. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Follow up to complaints# 10826063 dated 02/14/2016 and 10839895 dated 3/4/2016 (2010 Chrysler T&C limited w/4.0L engine dies unpredictably while under way). Owner called Chrysler 800# and was contacted soon after by representative from Chrysler care (customer service). She called around and found dealer in owner's proximity who had experience with problem and made appointment. Technician found no fault codes, but based on his experience replaced egr (exhaust gas recirculation) valve with one of newer and better design than what came originally from the factory. New part# 4593888-aa (valve E 140380) and 5277928 (gasket 140620). Owner drove vehicle for 500 miles with no stalling incidents, then washed, waxed and detailed it inside and out to like new condition. Owner's wife now again driving vehicle which now has 1,046 miles since repair with no further stalling incidents to date. Vehicle appears to idle smoother at stop lights, too. (the idling issue was minor, but had been with the vehicle since brand new). Vehicle now has 64,900 miles. Owner wonders if Chrysler egr valves on Town & Country engines should be recalled. This is submitted for the **possible** benefit of many others who are experiencing unexpected stalling issues. Our thanks to Chrysler care customer service department for their help. Keeping fingers crossed.
The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler Town and country. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was aware of NHTSA campaign number: 14V373000 (electrical system, air bags), but the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 81,000.
I bought my 2010 Town and country in June 2015 since having it this incident has happened about 4 or 5 times where I am driving down the street going around 20-30 miles an hr when my esp light will come on and my brakes and steering wheel lock up and the vehicle stalls until I turn the car off and restart it. This is very frustrating and scary when I have children in the car.
After getting hung up in traffic on I-395 in Washington D.C., the engine shut off when I was going about 15 mph. There were tons of people behind me and by the grace of god we did not get hit. This continues to happen. I have had several components replaced but the problem still persists. I have seen complaints about this issue on several websites with no solution.

Follow up to complaint# 10826063 (2010 Chrysler T&C limited w/4.0L engine dies unpredictably while under way). Took vehicle to dealer. No codes through obdii found. All recalls determined to be up to date. Could not determine problem. Left vehicle with dealer for 9 days. Tech hooked up computer and drove each day back and forth to his home. Put on 150 miles. Still no problem. Customer picked up vehicle. Wife refused to drive it. Husband traded cars with her. At 162 miles later on 3/4/2016 it died again while husband was making slow right-hand turn at signaled intersection. Lost power steering and almost hit vehicle making left turn onto same road going same direction. Restarted. Died again 300 yards later going 30mph. While coasting, put vehicle in neutral, restarted and put vehicle back in drive before it came to a stop. Per previous complaint, this all started happening after replacing the original factory battery. Original factory battery was duracell 500 cca. New battery is duracell ultra 800 cca. Report filed with Chrysler. Family looking to find a non-Chrysler replacement vehicle (waiting for auto show specials later this month), but in reviewing the ODI database on other vehicles considered as replacements, have determined this is a system wide problem among many, many manufacturers. Could it be related to all of the new fancy electronics" what have the car makers done"
Engine stalling at slower speeds multiple times a day. Recall done twice, throttle body and egr replaced, no luck still stalls, been doing this for a year now, accident waiting to happen.
The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler Town and country. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired, but the issue recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 68,000. Updated 05/06/16 the consumer stated the epr valve was replaced. Updated 05/09/16.
2010 Chrysler T&C limited w/4.0L engine. Engine died while driving 40mph in traffic on 4-lane roadway. Lost all power including steering, brakes, and heat (in mn winter). Strong armed steering wheel to get vehicle to side of road (no shoulder; blocked right lane). Restarted and began driving again. Died twice more in the mile left to home. Some history: Changed out battery on 01/19/2016 and experienced stalling when engine was still cold at stop signs. Never stalled while under power; only when coasting to stop sign. Ran okay when warmed up. Cleaned battery terminals, throttle intake and maf sensor. Finally stopped stalling after following one-time procedure of disconnecting battery for 10 mins, starting engine and letting it warm for 25 mins, all without touching the accelerator. Idea was to have onboard computer relearn engine settings. Worked for a week before stalling occurred today while in traffic on main thoroughfare. Wife now refuses to drive it. Will take it to dealer, but am sure they will tell me what they tell everyone else who has complained on this website ("can't find anything wrong!").
The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler Town and country. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14V373000 (air bags, electrical system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000. At random intervals while while in motion, either on city streets or the highway, the electrical stability controls fault out, causing the engine to shut off, and the steering wheel and brakes to lock up. The only option is to drift to the side of the road, come to a complete stop, and restart the car. This occurs multiple times throughout the day, though there is no official diagnosis from Chrysler as to the problem. It has experienced the issue for about 3 months and has gotten progressively worse. A separate recall is in effect for 2010 Town & Country cars manufactured during the first part of the year for this problem; however vehicles manufactured from July-December of the same year have no recall, despite exhibiting the same issue. Chrysler has been unhelpful in coordinating restitution for the faulty system, which induces dangerous operating conditions for drivers, especially on the highway. Though my family and I have not yet wrecked, this issue has caused multiple wrecks for others, and accordingly, numerous complaints.
The van will have the ignition cut off and the steering and brakes get hard to operate. This usually happens when turning and you have to put van in neutral while trying to avoid traffic and restart it.this has happened about 7 or more times already. Chrysler has a recall on this till manufacture date of 6/17 mine was made 9/10. And they say no recall to date for mine.I don't feel I should have to pay for there deffects.
Engine stalled 5 times already this month, while in motion. Only light that comes on with it is the 'road slippery' picture and some shops stated they could not diagnose it since the car does not show up alert /warning lights to go from. It stalled from being parked for a while after at least from 5 mins of driving. It stalled while turning and while in motion. Electrical power is still on. Engine was not. Loss of steering. Very very dangerous!! have 3 kids as pasengers. Lots of complain about it on the internet, but haven't heard a thing from Chrysler at all! last happenned today, January 27, 2016.
The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler Town and country. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the issue recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 106,000.
This vehicle shuts down while driving - intermittently. There is some times a lurching that happens as though it's not getting gas and the RPM's struggle and then it will die. Pop it into neutral, turn the key and it starts right back. Most often this happens within 10mins of driving and at speeds anywhere from 10-35 - usually when the RPM's settling to around 1200-1800. It has happened at highway speeds and it has happened 45mins into a drive with no lurching indication at all. When it shuts down, the driver loses all power steering/brakes which makes for very dangerous situation. The dealer swapped out the ignition under recall in June 2015 - this did not fix the problem. The dealer has taken the car on several drives and has not been albe to experience the problem. Sometimes it happens 2-3 times in one drive, sometimes 2-3 times in one day for several days in a row and then it might not do it again for days or even weeks. The key is always in the on position - it never moved to acc or any other position - and this almost always happens when the car is settling into the RPM - meaning not while accelerating. Sometimes this will trigger the check engine light, sometimes it does not. Sometimes the check engine light comes on just before it dies, and other times it does not. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for why this happens but it happens often and again, is very dangerous and unsafe.
Vehicle stalled (highly dangerous, loss of power steering at high speeds): 2nd time in less than 1 week vehicle has stalled while driving in motion on highway between speeds of 25mph (1st time) and 45 mph (2nd time). No turns involved. Weather conditions were favorable with no rain or inclement weather, both were at night 7-8pm timeframe @ approx 50 degrees F outside air temp both times. Vehicle is a 2010 Chrysler tc with 4.0 liter engine. 119,875 miles when it happened a second time. 1st time esp light came on, cannot confirm this occurred the 2nd time. No prior indications, no prior reported problems that I am aware of. Second owner, purchased car under warranty @ approx. 44,000 miles. Very hard to understand how this has not been diagnosed given the amount of complaints. I am an experienced mechanic in the aviation field, had this been an aircraft, the fleet would be grounded.
