My wife's car has been having an intermittent issue over the last 6 months. She will be driving and all of a sudden her car loses all power. She has been able to pull over each time, put the car in park and it starts right back up and she continues on her drive. I have replaced the EGR Valve and that didn't solve the issue. The WIN Module has been replaced back in 2015 as a recall. Another odd thing is that the radio clock will lose its time but all radio stations stay programmed. I run DTC codes and nothing is there.

I am thinking bad TIPM or Can Bus issue.

I bought this vehicle at the end of March 2009 and paid the extended warranty with Lifetime Powertrain Warranty. After a month or so I had to replace the engine and the transmission. After that I have been told to do the inspection only after 5 years which I did after my 5 years. Now that my engine is suddenly dead, I called Chrysler about the powertrain lifetime warranty and the customer service center told me that I did the inspection in April 2014 which is considered as my first inspection for the first 5 year but not for the second 5 year required therefore the powertrain lifetime warranty is no longer applicable in my case. I am just a simple Chrysler customer and did what I have been told to do and now they said that I did not follow what was required for the powertrain lifetime warranty!!! Very disappointed in Chrysler.

When exiting the freeway, coming to a stop the vehicle will sometimes decrease in RPM (500) and stall. Took it to dealer who replaced Throttle body, 1403300, P/N 4593858-AB. This did not solve my problem. On 5/20/15, 71,351 Had transmission fluid and filter exchange. Hoping they would see something inside trans. I did this cause when stopped and idle decreasing to a stall I am able to put the shift lever into neutral and back into D and the RPM would pick back up and not stall. Took it back in on 7/15/15 and they were unable to duplicate the problem. I figured something would go bad to tell what the problem is, but I am at 1 year later with the same issue. I am taking it to the dealer again tomorrow to see what they come up with. Web site CarGurus says it maybe a Torque Converter Control solenoid. We will see

Update from Apr 28, 2016: Had the Chrysler rep call me, gave him my complaint. He called several days later and I missed his call. Called him back and left a voice mail. 5 days later her called and didn't have a clue of who I was nor what problem was. Asked if I got my van back. Today (4/28/16) he just called while I was typing this and he said the same thing and he would contact the service manager. This is the same thing he said on 4/20/16. So, I will probably be waiting for another 5 days before I hear something different, I hope?

I cannot believe Chrysler cannot figure out what the problem with the van just shutting off. I took my van to the Chrysler dealer and they could not find the problem so I took it to another person and he said it was the EGR valve. Cost a lot of money to have it fixed. My van has died out on me several times and it is pretty scary. I cannot afford a new car at this time but I am afraid to drive mine. I only take it on short trips. One time when it died out I was making a turn and could not finish the turn and hit a mail box thank god it was a mail box and not a person. I don't understand how this problem is going ignored I don't know about anyone else but I think a car just dying out whenever it wants is pretty scary I won't even let my kids drive in it with me. Anyone have any suggestions on what we can do about this problem?

I've had this problem for a while now. Car stalls while at a stop light / stop sign or when just momentarily stopping or more recently and more frequently while reversing. And now I hear humming noise while driving. I mentioned this to Chrysler dealer at least twice but they were unable to find any problem. When they changed the FOB, I thought it will not happen anymore but is still happening. I am surprised they do not have a recall on this yet. I will see another mechanic to see if he can get to the bottom of this. I feel that Chrysler should be the one fixing this problem though.

When going between 20 and 30 miles per hour the van shuts off, the steering locks, and the skid light flashes on for a second. It only happens when your foot is not on the gas or the break. Like when you are coasting around a curve, which is problematic when the steering locks. I can't believe that there haven't been accidents caused by this. I have become very good at shifting into neutral and re starting the van without pulling over. I just had the van in to fix the ignition/key recall, but it is still turning off while driving. I have had the van for almost a year and this just started at the end of June, it now happens daily. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Our 2009 Town&Country has been stalling without any warning when slowing down (with the traction control light briefly illuminating after the stall). It had stalled 3 times when either my wife or son were driving the van. Of course when the engine dies there is no power steering or power brakes which makes handling the vehicle extremely difficult. The van immediately restarts when you turn the key, but the CEL does not light up so there are no codes in the computer to help diagnose the problem. After reading numerous blogs about people with identical situations it seemed like the EGR valve may be the culprit. So I replaced the EGR valve 2 days ago (CarQuest BWD). First day with new valve ... no problem. The van actually seemed to run better. The annoying hesitation when the engine was cold was gone and it seemed to shift normally at low speeds. Second day with new EGR valve and my wife seemed confident in the van again so off to work she went. 5 minutes later she returns saying it stalled AGAIN in our neighborhood. Ugh. So we trade cars for the day and I make it to work without incident, but for me the van was already warmed up. That seems to make a difference in whether or not a stall is probable.

It seems that a cold engine with high humidity is a fairly consistent condition found in the blogs. I'm curious to know if others with the problem would agree. I've read reports of the same problem from several different T&C model years.

My Town&Country stalled for the third time (this is the first report) while driving. Each time we had traveled only a few miles from our starting point when the van would die while slowing down. Once this happened while making a turn in a busy intersection (that could have been disastrous). There is no warning. Immediately after the stall the traction control light would come on for a few seconds. The check engine light does not come one. The van starts right back up after the stall and we go on our way. Also noticed the van running rough while it was heating up.

This is an extremely serious situation that will get someone seriously hurt or killed and I'm really disappointed Chrysler has not addressed it. Most likely because no one has died yet like with the ignition key problem.

My research on the internet seems to point to a faulty EGR valve, which I am going to replace to see if that fixes the problem.

Car would randomly shut down while driving. They couldn't find anything wrong at our dealership and insisted that we take the car. I had told the service manager that if he was comfortable releasing a car that has died instantaneously/spontaneously while doing 50mph on a highway, I would take it, but the liability on their end would be enormous if we got into an accident. They didn't care. Problem was finally solved after they did the key fob recall. That being said, we continue to have other problems. It will randomly sputter when it starts, we have had 5 batteries in 7 years. It's been back to the dealer 3 times in the last month and they think they have all problems fixed. Picked it up 2 days ago, it's dead again today. I have owned/leased around 10 Chrysler/Jeep vehicles over the years - NEVER AGAIN.

I was driving our van with my wife and 3 children on a busy highway, when without warning, the engine just cut off and the vehicle lost all power.Fortunately we were in the right lane and able to coast over to the shoulder without incident. Had this not been a Sunday afternoon with relatively light traffic it could have been disastrous! I have recently received a recall notice for the ignition but after doing some research believe it may be the TIPM that seems to control everything.

Once I got vehicle towed to dealer tailgate would not lock, driver window would not go up and power sliding doors would not work. Battery was just fine too.

This is totally unacceptible. I've had cars go many more miles than this and never have something this critical fail. Hopefully there is a recall on this too.

The vehicle's engine stopped dead and rolled to a stop, once at 60 km and 3 times at 30 km and once in a crowded parking lot. No steering or brakes were available and all electrical systems shut down. The first time, the Dealer hadn't hear about such a thing happening. The second time it took it in they believe that the pistons had to be cleaned for $400 outside service plus..plus. Vehicle had only 80,000 mi or 129,000 Km And when I picked it up they said "..by the way the manager recommended that we change the EGR valve ..." cost of $267.30 plus...plus. The final bill came to $2,920.76 (obviously the usual extra were thrown into the bill) and they couldn't guarantee the problem was solved, however, it never happened again. But the part were under warranty. I believe that the Company should assume some responsibility for this, I was lucky, it only cost me money, it could have been more if you wife was in the vehicle by herself when these events happened.

My car cuts off without warning while driving down the road. It has happened to me about 5 times over the past 3 years. The first two times were 2 or 3 years ago. The skid symbol comes on each time it has happened. What is frightening is that I lose power steering and the brakes are hard to operate. It is a struggle to pull the car out of the road. I have to turn the car off and recrank. It cranks right back up and drives with no apparent problems.

One time I had driven over a small stick in the road and it turned the tires and the car went dead. This had not happened for a while until recently and it has happened to me 3 times in the past month. Each time I have been in town on a city street going about 30 miles per hour and was able to pull the car over although with difficulty and stop, also with difficulty because the brakes and steering were practically unresponsive. I turned the car off and it cranked up with no problem.

My fear is that this might happen on the expressway or when I am driving my Grandchildren. I love my Town and Country but this is very frightening. I have never had good service at the dealership and dread addressing this with them. I doubt they will know what to do. I have now read where other owners have had this problem. I really would like to get it fixed because I do not want to pay for a new car right now and I like this car. However, this is getting to be frightening.

I also have a problem with it not cranking sometimes and it sounds like a dead battery but it is not. If I turn the steering wheel or take the car out of gear and then put it back in park, it will crank. Very strange.

Update from Jun 23, 2014: It has stalled on 5 occasions. It happened twice when the car was still under warranty. The dealership here says there are no recalls for the ignition and they do not know what the problem is. Not surprising. They have not given good service. I asked if they could contact Chrysler and they told me that they never contact Chrysler and that they have no way to contact Chrysler.I thought this was strange.
