The rear ac evaporator started leaking, similar to famous 2006 Town and country problem, but no recall or service extension yet. 700 usd later the problem was fixed but out of my pocket and there is an upgraded part so it seems Chrysler know about the problem.

Beginning in August of 2013 my car stalled (completely shut down...lights, engine, power steering, etc.) while I was driving on a major parkway. It was night and no other car was near me (thankfully), and I slowly glided to the side. It took a lot of effort since I did not have any power steering or lights. I had a friend, my daughter and my daughter's friend in the car with me. We were all very frightened. I brought the car into my dealership (meadowland Chrysler in carmel) New York. At that time they could not find cause. After that it happened multiple times and I brought the car back to the dealer and each time they told me they could not find anything wrong. A number of months back, I received a safety recall notice (L25/NHTSA 14V-373) describing the very same situation. At that time they said they didn't have the part to fix the problem. It has been months since this recall, I have followed their suggestions, taken the car back to the dealer - but still no part. The frequency of my car stalling while in motion has increased. It happened on I-84 at night and another car almost plowed into me. I fear for the safety of my family and myself. I have contacted Chrysler and they say there is nothing they can do for me but wait for the part. I have kept my copies of correspondence with them. I do not have the money at this time to purchase a new car and driving this car is extremely unsafe for me and my passengers and any other car that happens to be on the road near me.

2008 Chrysler Town and country limited minivan looses power shortly after take off. This generally occurs within 30 seconds of take off at <5 mph but has occurred at up to 15 mph once or twice. Warming up engine does not always seem to eliminate problem. Drive vehicle every day but power loss occurs randomly - meaning not set days such as every other day or once a week. Could occur more or less. Traction control light comes on. Almost complete loss of steering and breaking ability. Tachometer goes to 0. can't rev engine but heater and radio remain on. Once car is turned off and key removed, then turned back on, problem goes away. Car also feels like it's running out of gas or is going to stall after take off at different times during the day. Often when I leave work for lunch or leave to return home. Car has yet to shut off completely in this situation. Occurs mostly between 20-40 mph but not exclusively. Remains between 1-5 minutes and then works normally again. Took it for inspection the week of March 17. Couldn't duplicate problem. Computer lights not on though ABS sensor was found through diagnosis. Sensor was cleared. Drove again this week and car stalled yesterday, with "running out of gas" issue around noon and around 4:30 P.M. relayed information back to mechanic. Currently keeping a running log before taking it back to mechanic for further diagnosis.

I was at a red light and started to smell antifreeze. Thought it was the car in front of me and wasn't too worried it was my car as the temperature was fine. When I got to my final destination, I smelled antifreeze again and lifted the hood. Sure enough, a hose had busted coolant and it spewed all over the engine and engine parts. I took it to my mechanic to have fixed and he made a statement that he "couldn't tell you how many Town and country's I've seen with this same problem." The part is the Y hose for the heater/coolant hoses that connect to the back of the thermostat on the vehicle.

Every oil change I have gotten on this vehicle since around 50,000 miles, my mechanic has told me that I was 1 to 2 quarts low on oil. This last time I took it in I was 3 quarts low. I have my oil changed religiously at every 3000 miles. My car is getting on up in age but still shouldn't be burning this much oil. Looking online at various car forums about my same vehicle, a lot of owners seem to have a problem with their Town and country's also burning oil.

I have a Chrysler 2008 Town and country with 66000 miles on it. While driving my van at approx 35 miles per hour the van suddenly flashed the electronic throttle control light, check engine light, and slippery condition light. The van lost the ability to press on the gas pedal and make it go. It continued to idle down the road, but the gas pedal made no difference on the speed I was going. I idled into a driveway, turned the van off, let it sit for approx 30 minutes, then restarted the van. The van started fine, but while driving it home it did the same thing. I idled the last 1/2 mile home to get the van in the driveway. The next morning I made a service appointment and drove the van to the dealership. It stopped running one time on the drive, which is approx 5 miles away from my house. I again had to stop the vehicle, put it in park, and restart the vehicle. The dealership called and said that it was a wire going to the electronic throttle control that needed to be repaired. I see that there was a service bulletin regarding this issue in the 2010 Town and country and didn't know if the same bulletin applied to the 2008. I feel that this is a major safety issue as the van loses all ability to get up and go. Had I been driving on the highway when it lost all power I could have caused a major accident! within the past month we have also replaced the egr valve, the power steering fluid line, and the power harnesses on the door. They are now taking apart the engine because it is making a "lifter tapping" noise.

Check engine light came on. Had vehicle diagnostics test done at local Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealer. Bad egr valve to blame. Found out through mechanic and online forums this is a common problem. Also, the egr valve replacement is on national back order by over 6000!!! definitely should be recalled!!!!!

Egr valve needs replacement after only 55,000 miles/ 88,000 km, check engine light came on. Dealership-only item, quantity 6000 on back-order. Why only dealership item" why 6000 on back order?" fuel economy in low double-digits, causing excessive fuel usage and pollution. Pls help.

Upon merging on to the highway at approx. 50 mph, the van rapidly accelerated on it's own. The gas pedal was not stuck on a floor mat, it hit the floorboard on it's own. Applying the brakes did not work, pumping the brakes as well as the gas pedal did not work. Van was steered to shoulder, the emergency brake was applied, and the vehicle put in park. The engine revved rapidly until vehicle was turned off. Acceleration problem occurred at 38,800 miles.

On Sept. 7, 2011 we experienced a second incident where the vehicle totally shut down while in motion. Took it to the Chrysler dealer and they performed a software update, tsb 18-003-09, and they said this should correct the problem. We performed a dealership battery replacement on 8-1-11. On Dec. 14th, 2011 the problem re-occurred, while leaving a parking lot traveling under 10 mph. Now with out power steering assistance, I was barely able to manually maneuver the vehicle to a open parking spot, stop, put the vehicle in park and it restarted. On Dec. 22, 2011 the problem re-occurred, while backing out of my driveway traveling under 10 mph. Stopped vehicle, placed it into park and it restarted. I called the same Chrysler dealership whom performed the above stated repair, the earliest appointment date they were able to give was Dec. 27, 2011. This is incident is extremely dangerous and alarming to the safety of a family of six. We have google'd this type of incident and have read a lot of similar occurrences. We would like to recommend to the ntsb to conduct a full investigation into this type of incident and issue a safety recall recommendation to Chrysler in order to proactively avoid loss of life's due to this total system failure in which Chrysler has been made aware of.
