After arriving at work and entering my office, I heard a horn continuously going off and realized it was coming from my 2008 Chrysler Town and country. When I went outside, I also noticed that the front and rear windshield wipers were on at a high speed, as well as my lights. The instrument panel inside was flashing and the hazard lights were flashing. I then realized that the van was actually on and running... without the key in the ignition! somehow it had started itself up (mine does not have that feature). I tried everything I could think of to get it to stop by turning on the ignition with the key, pressing and holding the brake - nothing worked. After about 5 minutes, a coworker came to help me disconnect the battery but just before we disconnected it the van stopped and it was quiet again. I cranked the car up with the key and everything seemed to be normal. I have yet to drive it so I will see in a few hours if anything is affected. I plan on calling my dealership today about this problem!

Van stalled unexpectedly on a highway almost causing an accident, resulting in a traffic jam. The electrical system goes haywire unexpectedly while driving, resulting in the horn going off for minutes, front and rear wiper blades and windshield washer fluid going off, head lights and interior lights going on and off. Van will not turn off when ignition switch is put on off and key removed. The van has been taken to the deal several times, but the problem has not been resolved. The dealer has been unable to identify the problem. Both children and myself have been in the car exposing us to potential safety risk and life threatening situations.

My 2008 Chrysler Town and country sporadically acts up. The wipers go nuts, the washer fluid empties, the horn goes off, and the last time the car shut down, and I had no power steering and no brakes. I had my 2 children in the car and it was very scary. Thankfully I was able to get off the road and bump into the curb to stop. If I were on a highway or busy road it would have ended in an accident and could kill my family or someone else. The service dept thought they fixed it by reflashing some modules but it happened a few more times after that and now they say they can't replicate the problem again so they want me to take the car until it happens again. I think that is poor service for a problem that is definitely a safety issue and can cause a death. This issue is not new as I have read about it online I am just trying to find someone who has had it fixed so I can tell the service dept. What they need to do and I can drive my car safely with my family. This should be an issue Chrysler needs to address!

I purchased my 2008 T/C van in 2010 from eastgate Chrysler Jeep in indianapolis, in. The van had less than $30K miles. From the time I purchased it, I have had problems with the van 'turning itself off' while I am driving. I have reported this to the dealership more than once and since they cannot duplicate the problem or find anything on the computer they can't fix it. I do a lot of highway driving and it has happened while I am going 60 mph. It has even done it while going 30 mpr. There is never a warning. You just realize the car is slowing down with your foot on the accelerator, the radio turns off, and everything else electrical stops. It may do this twice a month or twice a week. I have had this happen twice in 1 day. The dealership did replace the key, but that did not help. I've had 1 instance where the van continued to run, but I had no power to the wipers, windows, radio, air conditioning/heater or lights. I drove straight to the dealership and showed them nothing was working. It was only until I touched my keys that everything came on. I didn't turn the key'I only touched the key chain. The man at Chrysler saw this happen and was just as confused as I was. I have posted this problem on a website called www.edmunds.com looking for other people with similar problems. I have received several emails from people having the same issue with their T/C vans. The problem is not limited to just the 2008 models. This is definitely a safety issue. Please look into this as I don't feel safe while I drive this van.

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Town and country. The contact stated that the windshield wipers would turn on involuntarily and all the lights would illuminate on the instrument panel. This failure also causes all the of the gauges on the instrument panel to fail. The contact stated that the last light to illuminate was the (no bus) light, which causes the headlights and brake lights to flash. As a result, vehicle would stall. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on several occassions in which a wiring harness was replaced. The failure continued. The failure mileage was 54,000.

Problem 1 - the van vibrates violently when braking downhill. Changing brake pads, rotors and calipers does not repair the problem. Problem 2 - during warm weather (80 degrees and above) the wipers run continually, the powered drivers seat goes back and forth, the gauges do not work, all of the warning lights come on, the headlights come on, the stereo/nav will not work, the A/C quits cooling but the fan continues to blow, the power window will not work and the lift gate will not open.

While driving down the interstate at speed the warning indicator sounded and all the gauges zeroed out and the van temporarily lost power this has happened on three occasions it only last a second and the van seems normal afterwards. Not sure if its a computer glitch or something else.

The protective lenses covering the mirror mounted turn signals falls off as it was only lightly glued on at the factory. This leads to rain and other items coming in contact with the bare circuit board the controls the led turn signals. This can lead to malfunction where the mirror mounted turn signals will not properly activate especially when raining. Chrysler has fixed the design issue in the newer replacement leds however the dealer charges $80S per side for parts only. I was quoted several hundred for installing the new parts.

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Town and country. The contact stated the driver side automatic side door would release without assistance. In addition, the passenger and driver side automatic doors failed to open and close properly. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis three times pertaining to the same failure. The vehicle was repaired yet the problem persisted. Most recently, the contact received a recall notification associated with the NHTSA campaign id number 10V235000 (electrical system: Wiring) but the vehicle had not yet been repaired. The failure mileage was 30,000.

Vehicle stalled on slow right hand turns. Happened 5 or 6 times. Electrical system appeared to be dead, no dashboard lights and the indicators stopped blinking. Vehicle restarted every time after stopping and putting the transmission into park position. Chrysler 5 star dealer in ellington ct could not find a problem. The vehicle had the ignition key module replaced under warranty prior to this because it died. The dealer didn't think the new module could be the problem.

My 2008 Chrysler Town & Country minivan turned off while driving 65-70 mph on the highway. I was driving a consistent speed for minutes when it felt like my car was slowing down despite pushing the gas pedal. I looked at the instruments and the speedometer and RPM gauge both read "zero." I coasted in heavy traffic until I could pull over to a safe shoulder on the highway. It was a scary experience that my car would not respond to pushing the gas pedal. Also, it felt like the power brakes were not working while stopping. This is the third time this has happened in the last 3 months. On two of those occasions the transmission downshifted into 2nd gear for no known reason while driving highway speeds. In all cases I pulled over, turned the car off, took the key out and the vehicle worked fine for 2-4 weeks. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they could not find any problems with it. They said there were no error codes for the engine or transmission.

I have a 2008 Chrysler Town and country with a sliding door problem. I sporadically have a problem with the door (has happened to both sliding doors but especially the driver's side) closing part way and then opening. Seems like some kind of sensor problem. It will also at times open of itself after it has been closed and I have walked away from it or gone into the house. Have complained to the Chrysler dealer. They said is was a computer problem and said it was fixed. It is not. I don't have much faith in the dealer as I have read about many others who have experienced the same thing and with no permanent fix. This has happened multiple times, not just the date cited.

Car stalls at highway speed combined with electrical freak out. Has happened four times since August of 09 with two additional partial incidents for a total of six tows to the dealer. Car will completely lose power and cut off while driving. At the same time, everything in the electrical system goes haywire. Horn blasts, wipers fly, washer fluid sprays, bells ring. One additional full electrical freak out while in the garage. Additional instance of car refusing to come out of park or start one day home from the shop. This amounts to six times since August O 2009, with Chrysler continually putting my family back into this vehicle which then stalls again on the highway at great risk to life and limb.

Problem started in July 2009 with 20,630 miles. All warning lights on dash flash, wipers run, warning chime sounds. Problem has persisted intermittently since then. Local Chrysler dealer has looked at it several times but problem cannot be duplicated. Initially codes were stored in the obdii but not on most recent occurrences. Problem seems related to outside temperature (hasn't occurred when temperature is below 30) and vehicle body movement (90% of occurrences were when turning left). Problem was a nuisance but I believe yesterday's events escalated it to a potential safety issue. On February 20, mileage 26,500, temperature in 40S problem reappeared; only now it was constant. We were about 30 miles from home and had to drive home, at night, with dash warning lights constantly flashing, all instruments intermittently going to zero, windshield wipers intermittently running, and head lights and fog lights flashing. This repeated about every 10 seconds for the whole trip home. Most of the trip was on a four lane divided highway. I was driving about 50 mph but can't be sure because speedometer kept going to zero. I stopped near the beginning of the trip and removed the wiper fuse to prevent damage to the windshield.

At approx. 34,000 miles - while driving the engine would shut off (no power steering/no power brakes), horn would sound constantly, instrument panel would turn off, windshield wipers would turn on and sometimes the brakes would partially activate. It took 3 trips to dealer to resolve the problem. The dealer replaced the ignition keys we had and this seemed to resolve the problem. 35,000 miles - same symptoms as above. The only way to re-start the vehicle was to dis-connect the battery. After reconnecting the battery and restarting the engine the vehicle would operate properly for approximately 20 miles, then we had to repeat the process. Eventually the dealer replaced a computer card which so far has rectified the problem. **important to note** the dealer stated they could not resolve the issue unless they could get the vehicle to repeat the problem. They reportedly could not get the vehicle to repeat the problem. They did not consider customer report of the problem to be sufficient.

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler town- and-country. All of the gauges on the instrument control panel were inoperative. Also all of the warning lights would illuminate on the instrument control without warrant. Also the vehicle would intermittently go into lymph mode, which would cause the vehicle to down-shift. The vehicle was taken to the dealer multiple times, and the clock-spring, wiring-plug, and pvc valve were repaired. None of the repairs remedied the failure. Finally the dealer insulated the wiring cable, which remedied the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000. The current mileage was 29,000. Updated 2/22/10 updated 06/01/10

We have a 2008 Town and country. On the first cool rainy day of the fall, the vehicle's electrical system failed completely. The vehicle drove fine, but without lights, wipers, heat, radio, etc. The dealer stated that they could only fix while systems are down. This seems very dangerous and I feel unsafe in the vehicle.

My 2008 Chrysler Town and country, which I used to love, just stopped working last night. Drove it around all day and it was fine. Went in to work, and when I came out that night to go home, the lights were all working, and the power doors and windows worked. However, the radio stopped working, the power windows no longer work, and the car will not start. It will not try to turn over. You can turn the key and nothing happens. The starter does not click, the motor doesn't do anything at all. We replaced the ignition/accessory fuse because ours had blown, and it still did not resolve the issue. Since we can't put it in gear due to the security lockout, we have been unsuccessful in towing it to a repair shop. This is a major issue considering it is the only vehicle my family has, and now we have no way to get our kids to the doctor or to school.
