I was driving down the road and the engine shut itself off. Luckily, I was not on a busy highway and I was able to coast to a stop along the road. I took it to the mechanic and they were able to determine that my van has a faulty roll over valve and this was allowing gasoline to leak into the engine. I had filled the tank up with gas prior to this happening and the mechanic believes the gas in the fuel tank pushed on the valve which allowed the gas to leak into the engine.
I have no choice but to have the faulty valve replaced. The cost to repair is quite high because according to the mechanic, the fuel system is all one piece and therefore the fuel tank needs to replaced because the faulty valve is located in the fuel tank. The tank alone is $700.
After checking out other complaints on this web site, it appears this is a common issue with the Town & Country vans. How many of these complaints have to be filed before Chrysler will realize there is an issue with their vans and send out a safety recall?
