I have a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country which I purchased new. In the following months the airbag light has come on: February 05, May 06, November 06, December 06, Jan 07, February 07, March 07, the light has stayed on for 3 minutes - 40 minutes. I have repeatedly brought the vehicle back to the dealer. Sometimes it throughs a code, but most often it did not. At times they have been able to duplicate the problem, and sometimes they could not. Recently they have not been able to duplicate the problem and no codes were shoown. The dealer was looking to chrylser for tech support, and I have been waiting 6 weeks. I have contacted Chrysler may times, they told me to deal with the dealer - there is nothing that can be done unless a code is thrown or the problem is duplicated. They have also told me that when the light goes on the airbag will not work.
- the contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Town and country. The contact stated that the sensor control module for the front air bags was not working and the sensor light turned on warning of a airbag malfunction. Also, the contact stated that the front driver's side seat belt was not tightening as it should. The contact replaced the front crash sensors, and the seat belt retractor. The contact believed that water entered the sensor assembly. The contact had the vehicle repaired, but believed that the work she had done should fall under a safety recall. The current and failure mileage were 59015 miles. Updated 03/30/07.
We have a 2005 Town and country minivan that we purchased from brunswick auto mart. We have had to have it serviced to repair the air bag sensors three times in less than 45,000 miles. There has been no reason why the sensors says failure. The bags have not been deployed in an accident or even inadvertently but a vehicle that has a safety system mandated by the government should have to meet better qualifications.
Follow up on an existing open item NHTSA action number : EA06003 front air bag crash sensor failure: Air bags:frontal Chrysler / Town and country 2005 my air bag lights were blinking the one on the dash board and the one on the middle of the console. I took it in for service and after 2 days and $350 (not covered by warranty) the sensor was replaced. The lights continue to blink and make a tone within the next 24 hours. I am taking it back for more review by the dealer.

: the contact stated the airbag warning light illuminated constantly. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who stated that the contact should give the vehicle a couple of days to see if the light reset, but it did not. The dealer was contacted a second time, who then stated the problem was most likely due to failure of the air bag sensor.
Air bag light was on constantly at approximately 40K miles. Replaced impact front sensors which was not covered under warranty, either from the manufacturer or extended purchased warranty. Noticed from your website that this is currently under investigation NHTSA action number EA06003.
My 2005 Chrysler Town and country mini van has repeatedly had its airbag light go on while operating vehicle. It has been in at least 6 or 7 times to date for repair and once they kept it for two weeks. They assured me the problem was fixed and again the light is on. I contacted Chrysler who advised it was a dealer issue and nothing was resolved. Now the vehicle has over 36,000 miles and the airbag light is on again and I am concerned that the unresolved repair will not be covered. The service manager from dealership also advised that airbag system will not work if light is on. This required equipment seems to be trouble prone.
Chrysler Town & Country 2005 minivan touring car. Airbag light came on and remains on. Called dealer where we bought the car and have appointment next wed. 4/12/06 to get problem corrected. Dealer said airbag may or may not deploy. We are reluctant to drive it until problem is corrected. At this time we have to pay for this service. Want it on record that we have this problem.
Air bag light came on. Being a school vehicle it places the van out of service. I contacted the dealer to diagnose the problem and found out this is a common problem and since the van has 51000 miles on it the warranty has expired. I feel this being a safety issue Chrysler should cover the repair. I do know of one other school van that has had the same issue with the air bag light. I also feel that most consumers would ignore the light and take their chances before spending $214 on the repair.
Air bag warning light would come on and off intermittently and than stay on until engine was turned off. This would happen each time the vehicle was driven the day prior service. Also prior and during the warning light incident there was a rattling like noise in the dash area. When I took the vehicle in for service they found a short and replaced the clock spring. I ask the service advisor if it would have caused a problem with the air bags to work properly and was told that it could have caused a malfunction of either not working when needed or prematurely inflating.
January 2005 after owning my 2005 Town and country for only 6 months the air bag light came on. I took it to the dealership where I was told that the sensor was bad on the passenger side and I needed to leave my van at the dealership because it was unsafe to driver due to the fact that if I were to get into an accident the passenger airbag would not deploy. January 2, 2006, I just had to take the van back in for the same thing. This time I had to drive it all the way back from Florida with the airbag light on. They had to replace both sensors this time. January 13,2006 I was on my way to Chicago from my home in Michigan and the air bag sensor is again coming on, less than 2 weeks after having it fixed! the other problem I have had with this van is the wiring the operates the power sliding doors. I have had to have the wiring assemblies replaced, once on each side.
I read in an article that you have had reports of failures in air bag sensors in the 2005 Town and country. I have had to have mine replaced twice in less then a year.
Thecontact owns a 2005 Town and country Chrysler touring van. She H had to replace an air bag sensor four times. The first one was replaced in januar 2005. The dealer thinks these are just bad sensors. The air bag light comes on, sometimes it will go off when the car is turned off. But after the car is started back it will come back on. Then it just stays on continuously. The contact has not yet spoken to the manufacturer. The cost of the sensors being replaced has been covered under the warranty.
The contact stated that the air bag light on the dashboard came on and went off intermittently. Dealer said they could not find what the problem was. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet. Updated 11/15/2005 - the manufacturer suggested replacing the wiring harness and control module..
Air bag indicator dash light has gone on three times last date of indicent was May 28, 2005. I have taken to the dealer every time to have numerous part replaced, such as the dashboard sensor and the seat belt harness.
The SRS light appeared on the dashboard and remained on while driving. Driver took vehicleto the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the sensor needed to be replaced. Phone interview update (Oct 26, 2005): Mrs. Finn said that the dealer told her that the sensor is near the front bumper. They did the repair under warranty and did not provide a repair invoice.
