CarComplaints.com Notes: What the heck happened here? A year after getting our "seal of pretty good" for the 2004, Chrysler turns around and delivers this crapwagon.

This minivan has problems ranging from rack and pinion steering failure to door locks that won't let you out. And trust me, you'll want to get out.

It looks really bad. I see other vehicles much older than mine and the paint still looks good. This has got be a defect and I should not have to pay for a paint job. Once I had an Oldsmobile and it was about 10 years old and the paint was peeling and they had a recall and painted the car. Is there such a recall on the Town and Country van? I still see many of the vans same color as mine and the paint is also peeling.

Clear coat is peeling. I have done so many repairs to this van, I could have bought me a new car. It is something every time I get into it. I have driven 2 cheap cars for 13 years each, never anything like this. My daughter bought this for me, nice clean had a new inspection sticker, boy 2 weeks later battery dead, 3 weeks door window motor gone, then brakes, oil pan hoses, caliper in wheels, left me stranded. Then next year same thing, headliner falling everywhere, tire sensor, brakes, power steering hoses, the power steering motor, windshield wiper motor, back light cover fell off, water dripping inside of front lights. One key, can't afford another one, auto key to unlock door doesn't work. This van has only been driven less than 3 thousand in four years. My daughter bought it so I would be safe. It was advertised from a good dealership and a car care car so u cannot trust anyone. I had a Chevette I drove 13 years never scared to go to mountains on a minutes notice straight shift. I hold my breath going to grocery down the block. Now the clear coat is peeling on hood, mostly looks like someone vomited on it. I might add I am 79 and have had many nice cars but none have ever given me the problems this has.

What is the point in "Going off, yelling, screaming, stomping your feet"? Isn't the point here is to just get ones vehicle fixed? Is this not the site we are suppose to go to for that? Or is this just a " Fun Site" created by somebody just for the hell of it ??

Well, I will not bite on it, I just want my post seen by the correct people and I would very much like my vehicle fixed. Also, I am seeing some recalls here that I was not notified on even ONE of them. So how am I to know if my van is involved in any of them ?

I bought a 2005 town and country xl new. Now, in 2017, 1 have 29,000 on the auto. My paint has come off, the clear coat is bubbling up and peeling off. My Insurance said it was the factory's fault and would not repair. The head liner has fallen down in the van and door locks won't work. I have tried to contact Chrysler. Does anybody know how to do this? I will never buy another Chrysler again if the company doesn't care about the way their autos look. I owned a Full size van that I traded in and the paint was coming off it before it was three years old. I think at the prices we have to pay for cars, the company should step up when there a problem with their products. I guess when everybody quits buying their product it might be to late.

The paint on this vehicle is awful. It is bubbled up in some spots and rust is falling off in others. If there are many vehicles of this year and make. I think the company should have to pay to have the problem fixed. I have had many vehicles, for up to 15 years and they had no rust. I will not buy another Chrysler vehicle, because of the problems I've had with heating, cooling and rust on this vehicle.

looks like chrysler really fell asleep on this paint issue....it is my understanding that this is the most expensive line of paint used by chrysler....maybe they need to change the technique

The clear coat is suddenly bubbling up all over my van. Most of the time its in the shade -- both at home and at work -- so its not the sun. I showed it to my detailer because I thought it was some kind of dirt but he said it was the clear coat and it was defective. My wife's Jeep (also a Chrysler product) is five years older and looks like new.

I've seen a few other 2005 Chrysler products on this site with the same problem.

Is there going to be a recall?

Showed dealer the paint peeling off the plastic air dam while the vehicle was under the "bumper to bumper" warranty. The response was that unless I can show the paint was coming off because of rust from underneath, I am on my own. The dealer was good enough to give me a card to a body shop that would fix the problem--they have sent many customers there already on our year and type of vehicle!

Thanks for the help. Just some advice, the service department at the Lockwood dealership in Marshall MN really does not care about any form of customer service. They seem to be the major revenue generator for the dealership.
