CarComplaints.com Notes: What the heck happened here? A year after getting our "seal of pretty good" for the 2004, Chrysler turns around and delivers this crapwagon.
This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I was involved in a minor accident where I was hit from behind by another minivan. Upon impact, the rear door (the automatic rear hatchdoor) of my 2005 Chrysler Town and country minivan popped open.
2005 Chrysler Town and country liftgate was being closed using automatic closing mechanism. Husband stepped around card and liftgate crashed onto his head at considerable force cracking open his head and requiring 5 staples to his head. He is 6' 5" and 200 lbs, I would hate to see what would have happened if it was my 4 year old whom had been hit. Chrysler touted the safety of the automatic doors upon purchasing the vehicle stating that even a fingertip would cause the doors to retract. I am contacting Chrysler to inform them of this possible defect or at least to warn consumers of the dangers. I will not be using the automatic feature any further.
