NHTSA recall 96-V-215-000, the master cylinder rear seal, between the hydraulic fluid and the vacuum reservoir, may not seal adequately, allowing hydraulic fluid to be drawn into the power assist vacuum reservoir. Consumer had the same problem while driving at 30 mph applied brakes and brake pedal went down to the floor, and did not brake at all.
Master cylinder totally failed without warning which could havecaused a crash. Recall was issued #96V215000 for same defect, but this vehicle was not included due to VIN.
Receivedd recall letter (#96V215000) 3 weeks ago; called dealer for appointment; was informed they had no parts; called manufacturer & informed no parts also.
Consumer contacted the dealer to have the recall work preformed for the master cylinder 96V215000, repairs were done. After leaving the dealership and upon making a stop, the vehicle continued to move. Consumer also stated that the emergency brake was engaged, causing the consumer to hit a bike rider.
