This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Problem occurs intermittently, especially when cool then stops leaking when engine is warm. When it does leak it leaks gas from the fuel line that [goes to the injecters] right onto the top of the front exhaust manifold which I think is a very serious potential fire danger!.
Fule rail began leaking dumping large quantities of gasoline onto the valve cover and would have contacted hot exhaust manifold if leak was not detected. Noticed strong gasoline smell. This was a high potential for engine fire and house fire if car had been parked in attached garage as normal. Just luck that it was discovered.
Vehicle parked in garage overnight. Garage was filled with gasoline fumes. Checked under hood and gas was leaking from the fuel rail. Engine block was soaked with gas. Had heard of chryler fuel rail problems but dealer says none pertain to my vehicle.
The fuel rail was leaking and presented a clear fire danger if not replaced immediately. It was replaced by a local service garage. Chrylser was contacted on 8/5/99 with a request to bear the cost in view of the failure of the fuel rail on other Chrysler models but refused to do so.
