CarComplaints.com Notes: After a horrific run of complaints and headaches, Chrysler introduced its 3rd generation Sebring starting with the 2007 model year. While there was a bit of complaint carryover, things eventually settled down and in 2009 the Sebring became one of the least complained about cars we have on record that model year. I know, it shocks us too.
If you’re shopping for a used car you could do better than a 2009 Sebring. But the fact of the matter is you could also do worse. A lot worse. And for that reason we gave this car our “Seal of Pretty Good.”

While driving on the freeway I lost all acceleration. I had to steer my car to the side of the road. The engine died, and would not restart. Had to have my car towed 66 miles $500.
The opinions of 3 mechanics said the timing chain broke. The mechanic said it was due to oil sludge in these 2.7 L engine. I changed oil regularly with Synthetic oil. I need a new engine $5000. It's not worth $5000. But yet it is less expensive than buying a different used car. I never had any indication of engine problem, no backfiring, no stalling, no noises . I have read several people have problems with these engines, needed costly new engine..How do I get Chrysler to reimburse me for at least some of this repair,.that's not going to happen. they've had a class action lawsuit re this, even though it was, re older Sebrings. I've also read the newer models after the 2002 also having the same problem.
