damned thing clatters like hell, stops for a second when l push recycle air button, repeat repeat, untillit stops for 5 mins

Horrible loud clattering coming from one of the ac actuators when I turn on the ac. Not sure which one it is, noise seems to be coming from the right hand side of the driver side dash. Clatters for a minute then is quiet until it decides to start clattering again. ac blows cold air. Dealer says it will cost over 1k to fix they guess. Ack!
