Not safe, this appears to be a common complaint and part of a recall issue dated back when vehicles manufactured. I purchased my vehicle used so not sure if this is a recall issue. I have also been asked by other 2007 Sebring owners if I have experienced such stated complaint, which leads me to believe this is an ongoing condition with these vehicles and very unsafe. Viewing your complaints this is the most problematic in the 2007 Sebring.
