now, my tranny light is going on and off...sometimes flashing....i thought it was the gas i was putting in it so i switched that and the light stayed off for some time...now it is on again....i took it to autozone to have it tested and they said it was some kind of hose that may be loose...not a major deal, but now, it sounds like it is not changing gears properly....when i come to a complete stop, the car will jolt like it wants to move on its own and the tachometer will move from 0 to 15 mph and i am not even moving - i am at a complete stop....i am not sure what the problem is here and i really can't afford to fix something else on this car...already had to fix the water pump and fule pump within the past year...everything is going at one time...think its time to get another car now ?? please help with suggestions...thx :)
This was causing a lack of power, not shifting gears properly or at all. Made the car undriveable. After replacing the water pump and checking the timing chain, it was determined to remove the transmission and check the flex plate. The only thing Chrysler mechanics could think to check was the timing at a cost of $1600. My shop decided to remove the transmission and found the flex plate was cracked. The repair costs for that alone should be in the $600 range.
The first gear is not engaging smoothly on automatic transmission, it's like a wild horse ! Significant hesitation gearing up and down until its reaching second speed or using kick down to get rid of first gear.
