This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Major headache has been the recent engine damage as a result of what may be oil sludge gathered in the motor. Engine seized briefly upon switching from 1st to 2nd gear, then began "clicking" upon acceleration or deceleration to/from high rpms (upshifting and downshifting). Chrysler dealership claims the problem is broken connector rod and bearing in #2 cylinder, which necessitates a new engine. Estimated price tag: $10,000 (more than vehicle's worth). Other problems with this vehicle have included faulty passenger airbag part that required replacement; persistent dimming/flickering of instrument panel lights; multiple battery and headlight burnouts; emission leaks on two separate occasions requiring two separate repairs; and cd player skipping, requiring (according to Chrysler) a completely new stereo system. Speakers are somewhat shot and the driver-side sunvisor clip broke under slight pressure.
2002 Sebring convertible lxi with multiple still yet unresolved "electrical" problems : door locks (8+ times attempted repair) front passenger power window(2X attempted repair), airbag light resulting failed seat belt tensioner(2X), wiper moter failed, stereo sytem (2X), other issues.
Air bag warning light has come on several times for varying periods of time. Under warranty they have replaced right front seat belt tensioner and seat belt buckle. Warning light still comes on sometimes. They said that the bags will not operate when the light is on. The light must be on for them to work on it and it will normally be out by the time that I make an appointment and get it in.
: the contact stated while driving 45mph a deer and telephone pole were struck with the front end of the vehicle. The frontal air bags did not deploy during the accident however, an hour later both frontal air bags deployed. The contact was not the driver of the vehicle therefore, it is uncertain if there was pre-impact braking. The driver of the vehicle was wearing a seat belt and no injuries were sustained. The air bag warning light did not illuminate. As a result of the accident the vehicle caught fire and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealership. The insurance company has the vehicle performing an investigation. The police were alerted and a report was filed at the scene. The vehicle is a 2002 Chrysler Sebring lxi.
While driving an accident occurred. There was snow and ice. Consumer was driving at 25 mph. The air bag did not deploy right away. However, the air bag deployed about two to three minutes after the impact. This was a head on collision. Both the driver, and passenger were injured. The drivers side air bag deployed but was not inflated. The passenger side air bag deployed half way. The driver hit the steering wheel bending the steering wheel.
