1998 Sebring JXi Conv. This model has a design flaw from the get go. The transmission pan sits at an angle , opposed to regular vehicles where the pan is horizontal to ground. This design leaves the gasket subject to constant levels of hot transmission oil and it rots or damages the gasket then starts leaking. On regular vehicles , the hot oil stays on the bottom of the pan , not contacting the gasket at all. It's too bad because I absolutely love my ragtop and baby it to the max. It is just a pain in the ass to have this happen every 2 years or so. It costs about $225. and I have stains in my driveway from the leak. It is embarrassing to have such a beautiful car , then drive away and see a small oil stain left behind. I feel when the problem is a design fault , the company should treat it like a recall item that can't really be fixed and replace the gasket free of charge. Or tell you when you purchase one that this will happen ( don't hold your breath on that one ). Anyone have the same problem ?
