This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
While driving at 60 miles per hour on the highway driver's side seat flipped back into rear seating area. Lost control of car, swerved off the road, and almost hit gaurd rail. Darcars service attendant: George mcdonald informed me that seat back form weld failed. Car not under warranty so replacement parts and labor cost $500. Seat wll not remain in locked position. George will notify darcars service mgr: Bill amos, 301-423-5111. Very high probility of injury, damage, and or death due to seat back form weld failure. Repair of defective seat should not be at owners cost.
The joint in the seat that allows the seat to adjust is bolted to the internal frame of the back rest. The metal that the joint was bolted to failed. On inspection the metal was torn apart like you would tear paper. The bolt that had three spot welds to hold it in place on the internal back seat frame was no longer attatched.
