Vehicle stalled on the interstate multiple times, dashboard shows service charging system. Had to coast to the side of the road each time. Sometimes the vehicle would restart immediately, other times it would need to sit before restarting. I was able to recreate the stalling issue by idling the van in my driveway by opening the hood to force the ice to run. The engine would stop and the same fault would show up on the dashboard after about 25 minutes of idling with the air conditioner running. Vehicle has now been at a dealership for 3 months and they haven't been able to fix it.

While driving on the interstate at 65mph, the vehicle suddenly beeped, showed a -??service charging system-?? warning and simultaneously lost propulsion. Pressing the gas pedal did nothing, so I had to coast over to the shoulder. My attempts to restart the vehicle were unsuccessful for a few minutes, but then it did restart and I was able to get off the freeway. It was an extremely dangerous situation. We are having the vehicle towed to the dealer tomorrow.

What component: Passenger window. The passenger window seemed to spontaneously break. There wasn't any other car in front of the van. My wife was driving and my sister-in-law was riding in the passenger seat. The tempered glass broke without warning. They were traveling on a paved highway.

On February 10, 2022 at about 4:30 in the afternoon, my wife and I had just merged onto the 101 at Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, Arizona. We had not gone far when we heard a loud explosion. It sounded like a ballon popping but at least 10 time louder. It sounded like it came from inside the car and there was no indication (wobble, hard steering, etc.) that it may have been a tire. My wife was driving so I began to see if I could spot any sign that would tell us what it was - nothing. Soon we felt air rushing into the cabin. I thought the sunroof may have popped open for some reason. It is a power operated sunroof so I pressed the control switch to pull back the ceiling cover and open the sunroof. When I did that shattered glass came pouring down on us. After getting it closed I called 911 and was put in contact with the Scottsdale police. They told me to call the State Police but because no one was injured it may take a long time for someone to contact us. We continued on to our house in Mesa. The next morning I contacted the Chrysler dealership in Mesa that I bought the car from. I was told to bring it in and it would be covered under warranty. I've had the car about 10 months and it has about 7,700 miles on it. Turns out Chrysler won't cover it under warranty. I have had it repaired at a cost of $842.45. I'm not sure at this time how much of the cost I will have to pay. An article by Consumer Reports identifies this as a widespread safety issue that the car manufactures want to ignore and that our government is doing little about. I can't imaging what our reaction would have been if the ceiling cover had been pulled back. Basically the explosion and the glass scattering all over us would have happened at the same time. I can easily relate to someone losing control of the car while traveling in heavy traffic at 65 MPH. Let's hope no one dies before this is resolved. And the cost of repairs must be paid by the car manufactures not the car owners.

There has been a lot of talk about the possible distractions in Tesla vehicles. I happen to have a Tesla Model S and I have a Chrysler Pacifica Plugin Hybrid. The Chrysler, although overall is a great vehicle, poses a risk because they do not treat the drivers as adults. Let me explain. While using the navigation system, it will not let you interact with the vehicle while it's in motion. This literally assumes that no one else is in the vehicle that could co-pilot. So, when I was traveling with my family over Thanksgiving, with my wife in the front passenger seat and four kids in the back, I had to pull over to the side of the road to make any adjustments to the navigation system. I don't have to you tell you how dangerous pulling off to the side of a highway is whether at night or during the day. This is extremely frustrating and dangerous and I take it personally that adults are being treated like children when it comes to interacting with these machines. If we're truly concerned about distracted drivers, then we would ban even carrying a cell phone with us in a vehicle and even ban the radio and the ability to change the station while driving. This is of course impractical, and that's my point. Tesla treats its drivers with respect and allows for responsible interaction with the navigations system, radio, other vehicle functions, etc. I play "Caroke" in the car all the time for my kids in the rear seat. If I'm distracted by the lyrics on the screen constantly changing with the song, then that is my issue and I should shut it off. However, it is not an issue with me and I remain focused on the road. Manufacturers should treat drivers as adults and allow them to be responsible. Anything short of that, and any regulation barring the great functionality of a Tesla, will only hold us back technologically. Please ask Chrysler and other OEMs to stop barring interaction with the vehicle while it's in motion before a truck slams into a vehicle pulled over to the side.

The car stopped 2 times on it's own, told me to shift to park immediately but was in essence shutting itself off. Once approaching a stop light going ~10 mph and the second time I was going 50 mph down the road. The first time 3 warnings flashed across my screen, Service Charging System Service Required, Front Parksense Unavailable Service Required, Active Parksense Unavailable Service Required, I shut the car completely off waited a couple minutes and turned it back on. The check engine light stayed on. During the 2nd event it was only Service Charging System, after i shut the car off and restarted the Uconnect started updating and I couldn't drive and the check engine light came on.

I was in the garage near the car when it started spontaneously. I had the key fob in my pants pocket. It turned off when I sat inside and pushed the ignition off button. Did not notice any warnings/lights at the time. There were no safety consequences. My Concerns: What else could happen spontaneously" Could it shift into gear? Carbon monoxide in the closed garage" Has not recurred. The only recent auto malfunction was the Information display (UConnect) had locked up a couple of weeks prior after a routine software download to the car. No problem with vehicle operation with that episode. Checked by the dealer and felt to be OK. No recurrence. I attempted to notify MOPAR. Their web page email didn-??t work for a several tries. I was unable to get past their customer service robot who got stuck on -??other-?? when I couldn-??t pick one of their menu options. I wanted NHTSA to be aware in case of other similar reports.

We have had intermittent issues with the rear hatch not closing when any buttons or key fob pushed since purchase. On 7/2/21 aprox 6:30 pm I was walking around rear of the vehicle the rear liftgate was fully open. A passenger pressed rear hatch button to close not realizing at that moment I was walking under I am 61.7" tall the liftgate came down full force on my head it did not beep and retract. It continued pressing down something sharp pierced my scalp and I was knocked to the ground, bleeding from the wound with severe neck and head pain and pain in 3rd right finger I had landed with hand underneath. I was driven to the local ER diagnosed with a closed head injury and laceration, CT scans were done of head and neck, and x-ray of right hand, 2 staples were inserted to close the wound. We were able to reproduce and videotape the liftgate failing to stop. A report was filed with Chrysler Customer Care ID no 7992588. On July 14 at 1 pm an engineer met us at dealership from Bosch and witnessed the lift gate force sensor not engaging twice. He refused to video tape this or to allow us to take a videotape, or to submit the video we had previously taken. He took photographs only. We asked him twice and he stated that he had witnessed the problem and it would be in his report. He downloaded into his laptop from the car computer and told us there was a software update needed for the rear liftgate. On 7/20/21 we received an email from Stellantis Special Investigations fcagroup.com stating that "After review of the inspection report and photos no apparent defect was found with the liftgate operation at the inspection. Therefore we respectfully decline any assistance associated with this matter". We had dealership do the software update on 7/21/21. On 7/22 I contacted customer care to receive a written version of the email as it will not print legibly and this was refused. I requested a copy of the engineering inspection report and this was also refused.
