Leading up to this event we had no issues with the power steering what-so-ever. One week after receiving a flash for a recall for intermittent power steering failure issues the car power steering alert starting coming in and out while driving. The power steering assist actually did not work when the alarm was in. This happened several times carrying my kids to school. I called the dealership and they asked that I bring the car in. In troubleshooting they determined the electronic assist module built into the steering rack had faults and required replacement.
They quoted me $3600 for the fix on a vehicle with 57,000 miles. Not covered by Chrysler. Ridiculous. They did not offer a loaner vehicle either. The steering continues to go in and out now. I will be looking to trade for a non-Chrysler, dodge, Jeep product now. We have had repeated, unrelated issues with these Pacificas. Yes, this is our second we bought brand new. Love the van, but terrible reliability on these things.
