We declined the power steering rack replacement recommended by the dealership while we determined how to move forward with the car as $3600 is not cheap to fix. The dealer suggested we just drive it with the power steering going in and out while we decided how to move forward. We limited use of the van the next few days. On the first drive in it two days later the power steering went out and back in just once relatively quickly. Not a big issue.
The next day on another short drive the steering came in and out multiple times while trying to make turns at intersections and while stopped. This is much more difficult to manage and it bounced in and out so frequently that it had become a safety concern to control the vehicle. Thank God my wife or nanny was not driving the kids anywhere when this happened. The results could have been worse.
On the way back to the house, while the steering was going in and out again, I now got a traction control light that came on. THEN, the front passenger window started rolling down!!!! This is our second Pacifica and they came not seem to get these electrical gremlins taken care of. This is now ridiculous, a safety concern, and I am done with the hassle of making multiple trips to multiple dealerships to get things resolved.
