Car won't start due to dead battery. Replacing the small battery will start the car, but that battery has a short life - 1 or 2 years. Both batteries are tied in series. The information center says the alternator is charging at 14.3 volts, but the batteries lose their charge overnight. Replacing the batteries only addresses the symptom, not the cause of the problem - short battery life.
I've had to replace 3 of the small batteries in 5 years, 65,000 miles. I usually get 8 or 9 years out of a battery,
