I bought my Pacifica in July of 2017. Was a great car until the warranty ran out, then the sliding door on driver's side does not close it takes 3 to 4 times to get it closed using all the various ways to close it. Now the transmission is messing up. It is hard to shift and sometimes it jerks my old body pretty good. I am too old to pay for the cost to fix it. Have been a valued Chrysler car buyer. Chrysler needs to step up and take care of the problems..I wish someone could tell me how to get it fixed at no cost to me or who to contact.

The transmission shifts poorly on a random basis. Clunk, hesitation, hard shift mostly at 19-21MPH and some times between 38-42 MPH. Going around corners is sometimes terrifying. Worried someone will pile into our rear end when it hesitates. Some of the "hard shifts" felt like I HAD been rear-ended. Two recent Trans Control reprograms have been tried. First one was not successful, but may have helped Chrysler TSB 18-054-17. Had another one today. TSB-18-19-05-ME. Will see if that helps.

Interesting technician commentary after first one: "Vehicle was 'relearned'. Shifting as designed> Working properly. Has active learn capabilities so if you have different drivers, it 'learn' 'there' way of driving or if you 'which' between rush hours and freeway driving you feel different shifting" Wow, what an understatement!

Note that the second one was a reprogram and not a "relearn"

My dealer seems to want to help, but they had not gotten the right help from Chrysler. I'm hoping now they have.

TOOK THE VAN IN DUE TO AN ENGINE LIGHT AND REPORTED THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM THE GUY IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO BRING IT BACK FOR THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I ASKED HIM AT THAT TIME IF IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD YES. WHEN WE TOOK IT IN WE WERE INFORMED THAT IT WASN'T COVERED ON THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY AND THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT TO BE FIXED.

MY QUESTION IS THIS WHY ISN'T IT COVERED UNDER THE BUMPER TO BUMPER AND WHY ARE THEY ONLY COVERING UP TO 60,000 MILES UNLESS THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS. I HAD A KIA BEFORE AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM AND WILL BE GOING BACK TO KIA.

The Pacifica was fine when I first got it and was very happy. Then after a few months of driving the car it would all of a sudden on the completion of a turn would hesitate and jerk hard before it would accelerate. It seems to happen when going from 1st gear to second. This car is an automatic. This happens intermittently but it is a great concern since I feel that one of these days I am going to be rear ended because the car in back of me is expecting my car to continue at a fluid acceleration. I have taken the car back to the dealership with no luck. They say they can't reproduce the problem and also says that this is how the car should run. Bull Sh*t, as a seasoned driver of more then 50 years I know how a car should run. I have had other adults in the car when this hesitation and jerk has occurred. I also have had others drive the car when it has happened . It's also curious when I have been given a Pacifica as a loner this problem has not occurred. I'm glad to see other Pacifica owners have had the same problem. Right now I am in the process of having a hearing. If you are also having the same problem please don't give up. When you pay over $35,000 for a car you expect to be SAFE!
