This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
My wife said that she was pulling into a parking spot and did not have her foot on the accelerator as she coasted into the spot. The car accelerated by itself she had to step hard on the brake to get it to stop before she hit another car. It was not a problem with a floor mat since they are snapped into place and do not come close to the pedals. I do see that similar problems have been reported on this type of vehicle with no satisfaction received. This incident is the 2nd time it has happened according to my wife. She does most of the driving around town.
The rear lift gate locking mechanism failed while driving causing the lift gate to open in traffic. There is no manual lock or release for the lift gate.
The minivan suddenly shut-off while cruising at 45 miles/hour. Almost rear ended by another vehicle along Warren road and wayne rd in westand, mi. Pushed the ignition button again after car in stop motion. No malfunction indicator light after incident.
The park assist stopped working and the vehicle was brought in to be assessed. I called to check on the vehicle and was told an update needed to be performed to resolve the problem. Chrysler has identified this as a issue and added/updated a technical bulletin for a potential resolution of the problem; this is a $185 problem pretax. The park assist feature is only accessible at speeds below 8~10 mph as it is designed to detect available parking spots for parallel or perpendicular parking and auto parks the vehicle, while the driver is still responsible for controlling the accelerator and brake. This problem is known by Chrysler and a recall has failed to be distributed to customers; although, not a safety concern customers payed for this feature and it should not stop working due to a software update. Further more software updates for this feature should be part of the cost of purchasing the feature and the park assist feature should still operate as the system is not in communication with a network. Thank you for your time and support, have a good day.

Transmission is faulty; will often times struggle to accelerate, resulting in a lag off the start. Also experience extremely hard shifting during acceleration. Vehicle has been to the shop multiple times, yet each time they "aren't able to replicate" the issue; dealership advised Chrysler is aware of this issue, but there is no fix, so they simply give back a defective vehicle. This isn't safe for my family and is unacceptable; apart from the power train, there are further A/C, electrical, and craftsmanship issues, all of which are now out of warranty, leaving us stuck with an unreliable & unsafe vehicle.
Accelerating from stop. Vehicle will stall/loose synchronization between engine power/transmission. Multiple events from both straight/turning situations. Following lose of acceleration, transmission slams back into accelerating causing loss of control. Steering is affected during event(s).
I just bought this vehicle 6 months ago with 18K miles on it. It is a 2017, but the 3 year or 36K miles warranty ran out in 2019 because the vehicle was made in 2016 even though the model was 2017. I have 27K miles on it and already have to pay an almost $700 repair on the fuel rail pressure sensor. I was told my van could shut down if I didn't fix it. Called Chrysler customer service, told them parents warned me to go with a Toyota and the van was technically not even 3 years old and under 36K miles and they said they could do nothing for me. Really wanted to buy us made, but pretty turned off by chrylser to have to pay a repair this high in with very little mileage. I noticed the issue when my check engine light came on and the van took a while to get going when I pressed on the gas.
This vehicle has stalled out and completely shut off while driving. No warning or anything just driving around 50mph and everything shuts off and steering locks up you cannot control the vehicle.then the screen pops up telling you to place in park while your still traveling 50mph. This has now happend 3 times. It happens the first time in May 2019 around 48,000 miles and now 2 time on July 8 2020 at 74,000 miles. I have read several articles online that this is happening to alot of these vehicles and there has been over 50 complaints but nothing has been done yet. This is a highly dangerous vehicle to drive in. Something must be done to project families for getting injury's. luckily this has happened to me on smaller roads and not a highway yet! this can be deadly!
Turning on your air conditioner to maximum often may cause bacteria growth due to the excess water that is dripping in your unit's true that in high humidity environments that mold can build on evaporator coils and cause an odor, especially if the van sits for a couple of days between drives. I make it a practice of turning off the A/C the last few blocks on the way home to blow some warm air through there to dry it out a little in the summer. Nonetheless, it is also possible that you have a different problem, especially if one of the smells you detected was "vinegar." I wonder if maybe a small animal/rodent found their way into your system and got stuck and has since expired? if the smell is only there when you first turn it on and then dissipates, then that seems a lot like a common mold growth scenario. If it persists, it is possible that you have a bigger issue.
My van is constantly stalling... weather its me taking off after a stop or driving through town my van is always jerking me around. I have taken it to the dealership multiple times but they have done nothing to fix the issue. Now my van wont start and multiple codes came on when trying to start my van. Something with my powersteering being locked, service electronic stabiliti control, service antilock break system, park brake temporarily unavailable and powersteering unavailable.
I noticed that my vehicle periodically but sporadically stalls at time while I am driving. Sometimes it happens as I progress forward from a stop ( atop sign or stop light), but sometimes it stalls while I am in traffic. I am yet to notice any stalling while on the highway. I brought my vehicle to be services and it was recommended that I upgrade my gasoline. The problem is more frequent not than it was before.
Purchased 2017 Chrysler Pacifica brand new with factory tow package option able to tow up to 3,600 lbs. Per Chrysler. Apparently the van can't tow 3,200 lb. Trailer safely unless the van can control the trailer brakes, which it can not do because Chrysler failed to supply wiring under the dash for a trailer brake controller to be connected in the 2017 models. It appears everyone with a 2017 pacifcia with factory tow package are towing trailers unsafely because the van can not stop safely with a 2,000 lb. Trailer in tow let alone a 3,500 lb. Trailer. I filed a complaint with the dealer (ziegler Chrysler in downers grove, il) and the BBB id #14203031. With the help of the BBB, Chrysler responded stating it was a sales issue and to take it up with the dealer. After going back & forth with dealer and Chrysler Corp., dealer (sales mgr. Phil) now says its a manufacture problem and Chrysler says it can tow 3,600 lbs. It appears Chrysler corrected the problem for the 2018 and newer models but not the 2017 models. It seems Chrysler is claiming and advertising it can tow 3,600 lbs. But that seems totally false for 2017 models. However, if NHTSA feels its safe for the 2017 Pacifica with tow package to tow the advertised weight without operating the trailer brakes then I won't be concerned. Thanks for your time in this serious matter.
Many other drivers complaining about same issue: 1. driving at low speed (10mph or less) transmission does a hard shift as if it was trying to engage 2nd or 3rd shift. Car does a huge bump when the shift is engaged. 2. at high speed (65mph ~) is possible to hear a rattling noise coming from left side panel / drivers side. This is very concerning for us. Already have dealer check the vehicle but they always say they could not reproduce the issue. This is happening since the very first recall for this car. Before the first recall, no issue.
