(Bought it new in 2007, and aside from a few minor issues it's been pretty reliable and hasn't sucked me dry in repair bils....so I'm hoping that my Pacifica is not going to start falling apart little by little and costing me $$$ for frequent repairs now that it is paid for and I cannot afford a car payment for another car...)
The "check engine" light went on and the dealer service found a small evap leak at the gas cap--further testing found that the ESIM was not switching properly. The gas cap was replaced and ESIM and the light went off and stayed off for a couple of weeks, then went back on again. I took it back to the dealer, and they did diagnostics, and smoke tested, and found nothing wrong. Reset the light and it stayed off.
Several weeks later, the "malfunction indicator" light went on. Took it to the dealer, and after diagnostics, smoke test, etc. found a small leak in emissions line. Took care of that issue, and found nothing else. Light was reset.
A week later, the "malfunction indicator" light went on again. Took the car back to the dealer, and after whatever tests and diagnostics, could find nothing wrong. Reset the light.
A few days later, the MI light went back on. Took it back to the dealer, again found nothing wrong. Said that if it goes on again, they will remove the gas tank to find out if there is a leak they cannot detect otherwise-- which will cost about $200 just for the labor, and more if they find a problem to repair. Yeah. Light was reset. (I asked them if they could disable it and was advised not to in case there was a serious issue...)
About 10 days later, "malfunction indicator" light went on again. I don't want to take it back to the dealer again, so they can remove the gas tank, afraid they "will find something"...that will cost me big bucks. I'll take my chances.... the light is still on, it's been another week....
