Since new car has used oil excessively. Recently had oil change and drove less than 150 miles and oil light came on - added oil to top and drove less than 100 miles and light came on. Chrysler says adding oil every 1000 miles is normal (I wonder what planet they live on) BUT if this is so, my next car will be another Subaru which I can count on. I need a repair fix if there is one available or one of these days my engine will seize and a new engine will be required.
A good car to drive BUT Chrysler should have a better response than the 1000 mile explanation.
had the engine replaced at 34000 due to an oil consumption
this car is real piece of crap wish l never purchased this car try to stay true to buy american built product but they dont stand true to theres so l dont want to but my next purchase may be an import l will try my luck there
I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA (TOURING). I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE CAR EXCEPT ONE SITUATION.
I PURCHASED THE CAR USED WITH 32,000 MILES AND AFTER ABOUT THREE DAYS DRIVING IT, I NOTICED ENGINE DID NOT FEEL RIGHT.
I CHECKED THE OIL AND I WAS ABOUT 3 QUARTS LOW. I CHECKED THE LEVEL WHEN I TOOK IT OFF THE LOT AND IT WAS FULL.
THE ENGINE DOES NOT SMOKE OR LEAK OIL, BUT WILL USE A QUART OF OIL ABOUT EVERY 1000 MILES. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND NO "RECALL FROM CHRYSLER" BUT FURTHER CHECKING SHOWED ME THERE WERE MANY OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. THEY ALL STATED THAT "CHRYSLER" STATED THIS WAS NORMAL. (B U L L)
I FOUND ONE OWNER ONLINE THAT STATED THE PROBLEM CORRECTED ITSELF AFTER CHANGING THE "PCV VALVE". THIS DID SLOW THE CONSUMPTION DOWN ABOUT 50%.
THIS SITUATION IS NOT NORMAL, BAD FOR CHRYSLER TO EVEN COMMENT THAT IS.
My wife has a 2006 Pacifica Touring Walter P Chrysler edition. The car sounded like it was running rough and she asked me to look at it. Opened the hood and went through it. Checked the oil level on the dip stick and it was bone dry. I changed the oil 4000 miles prior to this. I got the oil and filter from the store changed oil out. I took the drained oil and poured into the 5qt empty container to measured the oil level and found the there was only 1.5 qt of oil left in the car. The car had burned through 4 qt of oil in 4000 miles. I took the car to the dealership and explained to them the problem. I was told that 1qt of oil per 1000 miles is within acceptable limits per Chrysler. i have found several message boards regarding this problem but not any solutions. I have been told to go back to the dealership and have my oil changed and they will document the oil change and i will have to monitor the oil change over the 4000 mile interval. if it is low i am to bring it to the dealership to have them document the the oil level and they will top it off. I have been told that if the documentation shows the oil level falls within "acceptable limits" over the next few oil changes they will do nothing. if it falls outside of the "acceptable limits" they will look into possible replacing the engine. we shall see
