Car began to make loud, abrupt knocking noise from right side, passenger front of vehicle. We took it to three separate repair shops for evaluation and at all three repairs shops were told that our engine cradle was so badly rotted and rusted that the car was not drivable. It was a huge safety concern as the engine and transmission can both drop out of the vehicle at any moment without warning. This has been a known issue to Chrysler and they are not assisting current owners with repair.
I was on freeway doing 60_70 miles per hour when I noticed my car felt like it was not accelerating and gas pedal felt stiff like when car is off. I had my whole family in car and I could of wrecked if I didn't notice in time to put car in neutral and restarted it some how before we got rear ended. I got off freeway somehow and turned car on and off again a few times and it seemed like it was a one time thing. A few miles later it did same thing and I was stalled out in middle of on coming traffic. Cars braked and swerved out of my way to avoid rear ending us. My children were scared cause of this happening out of the blue. I now have no desire to even drive my car with any of my family in it incase this happens again. I contacted Chrysler but they claimed my VIN wasn't part of the F44 recalls but I know it is same issues...I will be taking car to Chrysler first thing in morning to leave them car to find out why my family almost got in accident due to this issue. So in total it stalled out on me 6 times twice on freeway the rest on city streets just to get home....this is a serious issue that could of killed everyone in my vehicle if I didn't react fast enough to avoid that from happening..
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and was able to be restarted. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump, water pump, cam shaft sensor, catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, timing belt, pvc valve, and multiple other parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact was aware of NHTSA campaign number: 06V432000 (power train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
The center bearing/drive shaft is no good. I prepaid the dealer in March of 2016 for a new one. As of today Sep 18, 2006 it ha not come in yet. The car is undriveable. Excuse after excuse. I have notified the mass attorney generals office. There investigation. I also have a rotted sub frame. And the dealer wont stand behind it. I am looking to start or join a class action suit against Chrysler.
The engine light came on. The car would not accelerate over 25 mph. It kept feeling as if it was stalling when stopped at light and trying to accelerate. Hard to go up inclines. After being parked for 4 hours we noticed the car was smoking. I called the fire department who discovered that the insulation and the engine was smoldering. It is now at excalibur being looked at. I was driving on a city street when this happened. When we discovered the car was smoking, it had been parked for four hours.

Purchased car used with less than 85K miles. When I went to get it state inspected 1 week after purchase I was informed that the car is unsafe to drive due to engine cradle was rusted out. Repair estimates range from $3300 to over $4000. The car is less than 10 years old and under 100K miles. No help from the manufacturer. Many others with the same situation. This could be a potential life threatening situation for myself and my family. Car is worth as much as the repairs. The manufacturer should be made to make this right. Bad product. Even partial help with the repairs would help. Very disappointed in "american made".
The engine mounts have broken, and been replaced, and broke again. The floorboard, has rusted through on the drivers side, and the frame is rusting out. The suspension is breaking and has now blow out 2 tires. The electrical panel /dash, doesn't work and causes other problems. I don't live by salt water and have been informed that this is not a new problem with this make/model. Gas fumes come up through the floorboard, and I have been dealing with this since I took it off of the dealership. I am a single mom of 3, and am not finding help from anyone. Can you please help me?

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving approximately 80 mph, the transfer case failed and disconnected from the motor. The driver side, steering wheel, and front passenger side air bags deployed with force. There was a white substance that emitted into the interior of the vehicle, which affected the four occupants in the vehicle. The force of the air bag deployment hindered the vision of the driver and front passenger. The driver, front passenger, and two rear passengers were uninjured. The insurance company stated that they would not cover the repair because there was no crash. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a third party technician who diagnosed the vehicle. Neither the insurance company nor the manufacturer repaired the vehicle. The contact was to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic for further inspection and repair. The failure mileage was not available.
2006 Chrysler Pacifica. Consumer writes in regards to fuel pump module and/or reprogram PCM recall. The consumer stated the problem occurred long before the recall was issued. One day while attempting to make a turn, the vehicle stalled. Then the fuel gauge started dropping immediately from half-full to empty. The vehicle sat at the dealer for two weeks, while they tried to diagnose and fix the problem. The consumer has since sold the vehicle. Updated 11/20/15 updated 9/17/2017
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving approximately 55 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle started to make a jerking motion. The failure recurred multiple times. The contact also stated that the vehicle shut off while driving, and was not able to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the motor and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
Got in our car, preparing to back out and do some shopping. Gear shift (automatic) would not move. Called a wrecker, pushed car out into driveway, and car was loaded up. The shift lock lever was broken. It seems to be a very important part and yet was made of plastic. A metal part was used to make repair. If this part had broken while we were speeding down the interstate, a tragedy would most likely have resulted. Total cost to us was $230. Cost to our insurance company for the wrecker service was $50. Thank you for any assistance you can give us.

First began 11/2013 when headed out after picking up my daughter, slowed to enter left turn lane (on major busy intersection at night!) and entire car simply died - fried the battery (it was only a yr old & the second time I had replaced it since I purchased it two yrs prior from original owner) nearly was hit by several cars before tow truck arrived (so dead couldn't even be shifted into neutral!) after multiple opinions by several mechanics had to face the fact that issue w/rods caused metal pieces to infiltrate oil (all oil changes on time, previous before incident 6 week prior) causing all engine bears to go. Luckily, was able to work out a fairly decent deal to the tune of $1200, only to be faced w/multiple additional needed repairs thereafter and over a year later, I'm still trying to get to the bottom of why engine totally stalls when coming to a complete stop if my A/C is on - check engine light has been on since I purchased it & still won't stay off despite multiple re-sets & computer checks, as is ABS light (again, checked multiple times & since no issue I have left it as is) now battery light also comes on intermittently. All codes come back fine, and hoses & seals all fine.... as of two days ago, seems I'm now looking at engine cradle issue as well! nearly $3000 in (just counting these latest issues!) after replacing battery for a third time & tire replacement (all 4) twice within a year, in addition to breaks & rotors for 2nd time in 2 years...seems to be a common problem w/these vehicles and yet my VIN # isn't included in the recall...shame on you Chrysler....I am a single mother, who has had all regular maintenance and upkeep & cannot afford to continue to throw $ into this issue, and am afraid every time my kids are in the car that the stalling issues will cause a horrible accident!
I took my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica in to a Chrysler dealership because I couldn't pass the il emissions test. I was told that my subframe was very rusted and holes were in it. He told me that they fixed my car so I can pass emissions ($900) and basically told me to drive it for a few months and get rid of it. I asked him how much it would be to fix it and he told me, it would be very expensive. I did my research and there are a lot of people with the same problem. There is a recall for 04-05 Pacificas and after looking at pictures of other subframes for 04-05 models, they look just like mine (rusted w/holes). 06 Pacificas should also be in the recall. I did not call Chrysler because I felt I would get the same response as others. So now I have to pray every time I drive the vehicle that the subframe doesn't break. I still owe on the vehicle and can't afford another. Please do something!
Today I was told that the engine cradle of my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica with 125214 miles was rusted out and needs to be replaced, will not pass nys inspection. Online I read that Chrysler is only are covering the 2004 and 2005 models. This is a extreme safety problem just like the defects in the 2004 and 2005 that Chrysler needs to cover.
The engine cradle is rusting through leaving holes, and flaking off even when just touched by hand. This is a problem with 2004 and 2005 Pacificas as well; Chrysler extended warranties for those model years, but decided not to for 2006 for some reason. Really these should all be recalled anyway as it is a major safety issue since the engine support is rotten with rust which could easily cause major accidents.

The contact stated that while making a turn on an intersection at approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the fuel pump gauge malfunctioned, showing an inaccurate reading. Pulling into parking lot, engine quit. Did not notice if check engine light came on. Was able to restart vehicle after coming to stop and shifting into park. A repeat of incident occurred on Jan. 1, 2015. Do not know if related to PCM recall in 2006.
