CarComplaints.com Notes: Engine cradle rot is a serious problem in the 2004-05 Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler admits they didn't apply enough coating to the vehicle's sub-frame during assembly, but only offered to cover a very small portion of the vehicles they messed up.

So what happens when your engine cradle rots? Well, the engine could fall out for starters. It could also cause problems with the suspension and other components but did I mention THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT? The worst part is you might not know because there's no way to see the problem without getting under the car.

If you have a 2004-05 Pacifica, make sure to have your mechanic inspect your sub-frame for rust and corrosion.

We purchased a used 2005 Pacifica in 2009. It has gone through 3 catalytic converters, 6 oxygen sensors and the dealership says it needs to be done again. The gas pedal sticks requiring one to stomp on it to get it to go down sometimes. Big safety concern. It has lost it's power steering and acted like it was going to die on four occasions when turning shortly after being started. We owe twice what this car is worth and have no idea what we are going to do. It goes through oil like mad too. The dealership says that's normal. A quart every other week is not normal. The tailpipe is black. The dealership says they don't know what to do unless they continue replacing the 1000 dollar parts. There has been no word from Chrysler so far. I spoke to a friend of the family who teaches car repair and he said there is obviously a serious engine problem.

Own a 2005 Pacifica..it has 75000 miles on it. It has 4 bad engine mounts. Dealer states "they see alot for this particular model and it is normal." I do not think it is normal that mounts that hold up the engine could fail.
