CarComplaints.com Notes: Engine cradle rot is a serious problem in the 2004-05 Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler admits they didn't apply enough coating to the vehicle's sub-frame during assembly, but only offered to cover a very small portion of the vehicles they messed up.

So what happens when your engine cradle rots? Well, the engine could fall out for starters. It could also cause problems with the suspension and other components but did I mention THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT? The worst part is you might not know because there's no way to see the problem without getting under the car.

If you have a 2004-05 Pacifica, make sure to have your mechanic inspect your sub-frame for rust and corrosion.

Has taken to state inspection and they said there's rust. Didn't think of it as a big issue until I read the hazards of rusting frame on the engine could drop the engine while driving. Now not driving it. It had a tire rod repaired last year and still went out this year. It might be due to corrosion. A lot of electronic problems too. Felt like wasted my money every year keeping this vehicle in shape. This state also likes selling these types of vehicle so they can juice folks money every year for inspections and repair. They put salt on the ground every winter that eats up the frames of the vehicle.

Won't let me pump gas in with out it constantly clicking off, when gas gage hits half it drops with in seconds. Traction control light engine light low and high tire pressure stays on but nothing shows on tester. Front end does a lot of popping, and clanking while driving even while turning and stopping.

Husband took car in to have motor mounts fixed. Have been bad since we bought the car, on 1/28/12. Along with a lot of other issues we didn't understand. Ac stopped working. Stalled while driving 55 mph., always shook after a certain speed, electrical, car jerked forward at a stop, tire pressure always read 2-3 tires low even after having new tires put on and aligned. Defog never worked. Weird sound in front of suspension, power train module, etc., etc. But the worst of all is when we tried to have the motor mounts fixed back in December. Car guy fixed motor mounts, husband drove car home, later that night went with kids for ice cream, came out and car would not start. Had it towed back, worked on it forever could not figure out, then had it towed again 2 weeks later, to another shop, where they said the car was done! the engine cradle was so rusted that they wouldn't even let us take the car, because it was so bad! not sure if I am under the extended warranty, but would hope that Chrysler takes care of all the people, who have endured all of these problems, and expenses associated with all! before someone gets really really hurt, dies, or kills someone else!

My 2004 Chrysler Pacifica stalls out of nowhere when I'm driving it can be when I'm driving at 5 miles or even 20,30 or even 50 miles or if I'm making a turn which is very scary when my steering wheel locks up on me. It also wont start all the time I've had my car in the shop over 20 time to find out what's going on, I've spent over $5,000 dollars trying to fix it but to no avail. I've been doing some research on this issue and there are tunes of people with the same problem on 04, 05, and 06 Chrysler Pacifica's but only the 05's have a recall on the PCM. I've had my gas line changed twice because I could only use half a tank be for it would drop to E and run out of gas and that was $3,000 within a year and that's been a big issue in the Pacifica world also. I just don't understand why Chrysler wont fix the problems on these SUV's its clearly a safety issue that needs to be resolved. I've trusted Chrysler with my family and it's scary to drive this car knowing it can and will shut off on me at any time and may not start back up. I don't have money to get a new car being a single mom of 4 that's why I purchased this car. Now with all the problems that I'm having with it and no one knows what's wrong with it or how to fix it is a big headache. I took it to a mechanic that has a friend that works for Chrysler Dodge and Jeep and they put there machines on my car and they couldn't find out what was going on with it as well and there's no code that was given they said I needed to change my starter and something else I cant remember the part but that was another $200 and its still not fixed now they say it has to be my PCM witch is another 1,500 that I don't have. I didn't expect to put all this money out to fix this car and it not getting fixed because Chrysler doesn't know what's wrong with the 04 Pacifica but I'm sure its the PCM just like the 05 and 06 models.

The windshield wipers and electrical systems failed during a mild rain. We got the vehicle to a Chrysler dealer and contracted for them to put it on the lift. We've learned that the main wiring harnesses on many 2004 Pacificas - such as ours - have collected water for years due to their design on the 2004 Pacifica, and have completely corroded. This substantially compromised our safety, as we exited the road having lost windshield wipers, all electrical, etc., we attempted to use the horn which also was no longer working.

There was no incident, motor mounts break at ease and have been on back order since October of 08. I was told by rep at Chrysler that mounts on Pacificas always break way before they are supposed to. I have been waiting 7 months for replacement but Chrysler doesn't seem to have a clue as to when they'll be in. Last I check which was last week could be months. The mounts are needed to keep the engine from falling out, no mounts means I can't drive my only car.
