problem #3

PT Cruiser Limited 2,4 Turbo

The side power seat control panel got loose. The power adjustment worked sporadically after that. Several times the seat spontaneously moved forward all the way to the steering column.

Due to the clear safety hazard it posed, I disconnected it.

Of note, I am not overweight at 5'9" and 155 lbs. Overall, it is my opinion that it is a design flaw. The car sits a little higher than most, and in normal entering and exiting of the car, there is some pressure that inadvertently gets applied to the side of the seat. The control panel is a plastic panel attached to the car seat side.

I checked for recalls, of which there were none, which surprised me due to the safety hazard. The dealer agreed to look at it, but would charge me. Another mechanic told me it would require replacing the seat.

I' have the same issue with my driver's seat...I can "snap" it back in, but it doesn't last long. There is a plastic clip in the panel that is broken, and if you put any pressure on it at all getting out, it pops out again, exposing the wires for the power seat, I'm scared something in the wiring is going to break. I had no idea other Cruiser owners have had this problem. I was actually on line looking to see if I could find the part to fix it...

I purchased this car on 9/13/12. Mostly drive around area, errands. I weigh 175lbs. I am not putting undue stress on the drivers seat or the control panel that is connected ti the lower left side. the cover has popped off several times , exposing the wiring and mechanisms. getting into the car one day the control panel dislodged, seat would not move back or forward, When I went out the next day , car would not start. I called dealer, he suggested to take it to have it towed to the auto service center that covers the warranty (36,000 or 36 mos.). They fixed the seat and charged 85.00. Said it was not covered under warranty. THEY SAID THAT THE ISSUE IS VERY COMMON WITH THESE CARS. He said that I would do well to avoid touching the panel , or jarring it, because the problem would probably re-occur. That is a stressful situation, TRY IT!!! GETTING IN AND OUT WITHOUT JARRING OR BUMPING THE PANEL. I BEGAN HAVING LEG CRAMPS (PUTTING MY BODY INTO CONTORTIONS IN ORDER TO ADEQUATELY CLEAR THE PANEL UPON ENTERING AND EXITING THE DRIVERS SEAT. AND EVEN WITH THAT I HAVE STILL MANAGED TO DISLODGE IT AT LEAST 7 TIMES SINCE I HAD IT TO THE SHOP. I MANAGED TO FIT THE COVER BACK ON , AND NOT DISENGAGE THE WIRING.

I CANNOT PAY MY CAR NOTE AS WELL AS THE REPAIR BILL FOR THIS ISSUE EACH TIME THAT IT OCCURS. UNHEARD OF!!!

I ALMOST DREAD HAVING TO GET INTO THE CUTE LITTLE CAR. IT MAKES ME ANXIOUS.

I NEED HELP!!!

ASAP!!! ASAP!!! ASAP!!!
