CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2006 is the worst year for PT Cruiser engine complaints. Having an engine light on is annoying, but it's the complaints about the engine shutting-off while driving that really have us concerned.

Went out to start car after shopping, would start and die, start and die..tried about 3 times. Then completely dead..nothing. Called my daughter and she drove to see if I needed a jump start, but I knew the battery was good. Was showing engine light on, so she hooked up a code reader and wouldn't throw a code. Called AAA and had it towed to the town I live in. Garage called and said it is a computer glitch that Chrysler knows about but refuses to put a recall in. They said it was a vehicle security issue on the computer that stopped and they had to reset it. I have no alarms, no bells or whistles on my PT Cruiser..now I have to pay the garage $76 for something that should have been a recall. So unfair, I just don't have the money to throw around, or I wouldn't be still driving a '06 PT Cruiser! Plus the inconvenience and having to use a AAA tow.
