CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2006 is the worst year for PT Cruiser engine complaints. Having an engine light on is annoying, but it's the complaints about the engine shutting-off while driving that really have us concerned.

First the seat belt light flashes on, then ALL the lights on the dashboard come on. My gauges drop - accelerator, RPM and temperature (fuel gauge remains steady). Lasts for up to a minute, then everything returns to normal. This happens sometimes only once, other days happens 4-5 times in a row. Numerous similar complaints on Internet. Some says this leads to engine cutting out while driving?! Wonder why Chrysler is not addressing this seemingly common problem with the 2006 models of PT Cruiser. Any recourse?
Update from Jun 20, 2014: Dealer instructed by Chrysler to replace the ignition. Cost was $500+. We submitted the expense to Chrysler, via snail mail, seeking reimbursement. Clearly this is a problem the car mfr is aware of and should be addressing. Someone is going to be seriously hurt or killed by these cars losing power while driving
