This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The contact stated that the rear quarter glass fasteners on both sides of the vehicle had started to separate from the vehicle. The contact stated that the windows were violently shaking while driving at various speeds. The contact was concerned that the windows might fall out while driving and cause injury to a pedestrian. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
With no warning and no apparent cause, the rear driver side quarter window detached from the car while driving on the interstate. Since I was unaware of what exactly happened at the time (I just heard a noise and felt some wind) I did not stop and am unaware of what if any property damage may have occurred to other cars as a result. Closer examination shows that the glass separated from the bolts that held it to the car. It looks like there is a recall for this problem on later PT CRUISER models (07V149000), but that does not apply to 2002 models.
