Hood damage is experienced due to the hood rod being installed at the rear next to the firewall. If closing the hood is attempted prio to lowering the rod, the rod pops up into the prop cavity and damages the hood. There is no protection between the rod and the hood. This is a poor design and Chrysler should be required to make the repairs, , put out a service bulletin to all PT CRUISER owners, along with a warning label, , and correct the design. A stop should prevent the rod from pushing up into the cavity and damaging the hood.
