windshield wiper transmission brackets broken windshield wiper transmission brackets broken windshield wiper transmission brackets broken

I bought the car used in October of 2020. It needed some repairs as it had been sitting for a number of years, well one afternoon I was Driving in a pretty bad rainstorm a few months after I bought the car and got it running. I heard a loud Clunk! Sound come from inside the dash, and my passenger side wiper stopped moving and fell into the windshield screen below the windshield. Great I was down to 1 wiper.

A few days later I took it to the local repair shop and they told the windshield wiper transmission arm brackets had dry rotted and broke in half!! The tech guy told me he searched for 2 hours online and couldn’t find the bracket he needed. It took me and my dad another hour and a half of driving to multiple places to find that only 1!! Store in my area had ONE I REPEAT ONE!! kit left in stock. The part was long since discontinued and the last one had been sitting on the shelf for years waiting for me to come get it.

But wait there’s more. After having that new bracket installed on both arms. The next week I was in yet another rain storm and a similar thing happened. The passenger side wiper arm again stopped working and fell into bay track below the windshield. I took the car back to the shop a second time to come to find out the brackets managed to wiggle loose out of slot and the wiper again stopped functionally working. (The shop didn’t charge us for the second time of repair)

However now whenever I use the wipers they make a horrible squeaking sound as they move. Terrible design on Chrysler corporations part. And from what I’m told a lot of K cars and other older Chrysler vehicles use the same technology. Other than this one issue my New Yorker is pretty solid all around. Thanks for reading! Joseph,

Update from Mar 16, 2021: Update: I uploaded the photos of the replacement parts and the part that failed.
