We had an appointment to have the airbag replaced per recall, on May 5,2017. Arrived at Dealer to be told the part was not in and to return tomorrow (Saturday). Saturday, after a wait of 4 hours the car had an airbag light when being driven out of the repair shop. We were told they needed a diagnostic tool and would get it from another dealer as they did not have one there. June 19 we took the car to be diagnosed (they now had the tool) Manager notes on the invoice "could not perform any work on this vehicle we don't have the cable we need to communicate with the vehicle. manager is trying to obtain one". This took another 4 hour wait. (Between these 2 visits we left the car twice and nothing could be done.)
Today I called the airbag recall # 866-220-6765 for Chrysler. The attendant, Laura called the dealer's repair manager, Ken, while I was on hold. Ken told Laura that we had the part installed on a Friday and returned on Saturday to say the light was on. This is not the case, maybe Ken does not remember that Friday they did not have the part and that Saturday they did. Laura told me that Ken will call us tomorrow as he should have the cable. Stay tuned...what a very frustrating situation. I drive this car only occasionally and feel an airbag not working may be less dangerous than the recalled bag. Who really knows?
