While driving my son home from school, my 2000 Chrysler Cirrus became disabled due to the right side ball joint snapping off the control arm. I had to get my veichle towed and had to replace the right ball joint, the right control arm and also the right side axle. I only own this car 6 months ( 1825 miles) and this was the 2nd major repair I had with this veichles steering conponents ( rack & pinion assy and power steering pump). I found on another website that there is a recall for the control arm:lower ball joint recall id #79830. Can you please help with this problem or lead me in the right direction. Thank you!
2000 Chrysler Cirrus LX 2.4 liter engine. Car parked, with engine off. Fire starts in engine compartment, started by either the fuel lines on the top of the engine or the power steering unit on the rear left of the engine by the reservoir. There were no signs of overheating, no smoke and no strange noises prior to the fire. The fire started approximately 10 mins after I got out of the vehicle.
The driver noticed that the power steering fluid was leaking. While driving the vehicle caught on fire without warning. The driver pulled over and called the fire department who extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to a body shop. The cause has not been determined at this time.
