The automatic lift gate stopped working. Whenever I tried opening it, I just got a 2 beep alert and nothing unlocked or opened either by using the interior button or exterior handle. I set up an appointment with the Dealership after trying to fix it myself and reading all of the online blogs about it. Trying to unlock it by opening the panel from the inside and trying to snake my big hand around to hit the locking mechanism. This might work if I was an 8 year old child with small hands but no way was I going to be able to do it. Then 2 days before my appointment with the Dealer, I noticed that as I pulled on the exterior latch it wasn't until I depressed it fully and held it that I got the 2 beep alert. So, I tried quickly pulling on the latch and jerking the gate and "presto chango"...it worked. The tailgate opened and has been working ever since. Very happy that I didn't have to go to the Dealer and be told of an expensive lock replacement. So, if any of you experience the same problem, put your hand on the latch and be ready to engage and pull hard at the same time. Hopefully you'll have the same success that I had.

Good Luck,

Bill

I was struck in the head by a defective automatic lift gate and was almost knocked out. Chrysler sent an adjuster from Detroit,Mi. to take pics and do measurements on my vehicle. The adjuster determined that the Aspen was defective and should be fixed immediately. The next day an attorney called and told me to get my car repaired and go to the doctor which I did, and that to forward all my bills to them, I did about a year later after my doctor released me from treatment for an concussion that nearly killed me.I then called the attorney that initially called me and she told me your not dead or in the hospital so why should I pay for anything. I am totally frustrated with Chrysler after being a loyal customer for many years and have brought 2 new cars from them.

Thanks for letting me vent. James O Graham Phone # 302-559-4788
