I have a 1999 Chrysler 300M. On the passenger side of the dash board, a crack exists on the whole left line of the airbag. Now, another crack is forming on the right side of the airbag line. I know of another 300M that has the same problem. I am complaining because Chrysler refuses to fix this obvious defect because my car is past the factory warranty (53,000 miles). Even that being the case, I feel Chrysler should be responsible for fixing this problem. I am concerned if this could affect the way the airbag will perform, or cause it to deploy when it is not intended to. I would appreciate your help and inquiries on this subject.
There were problems with electric windows and a crack in the dash. The electric windows had stuck shut due to the tight seal designed to reduce the wind noise, and the crack in the dash was around the passenger side air bag and appeared where the material was stretched over the air bag underneath. Also, when the vehicle was two months old, the front wheel rotors had to be replaced, the battery was replaced in the first year, before 50K a defective bearing on the cooling fan was required to be replaced.
