cracked fuel pump and melted connector cracked fuel pump and melted connector cracked fuel pump and melted connector cracked fuel pump and melted connector

My tour company which runs Chrysler 300Cs in Hawaii smelt gas in the cabin and after filling the tank had raw gas running out under the car. I changed the fuel pump only to have it leak again in 5 months. The fuel pump connector/module even came loose which caused the car to stall.

There are many complaints like this about fuel leaks on the Dodge and Chrysler forums as well as carcomplaints.com. and car gurus as well as others. Why Dodge/Chrysler has ignored this fire hazard when so many are have the same experience is beyond comprehension!

An independent study determined that from people sitting in the back seat on the driver's side put pressure on the connector which caused the pins to heat up and melt the plastic around the pins breaking the seal and allowing raw gas to leak through the connector.

The study also discovered from people sitting on the rear passenger's side or child seats pressing down caused the top of the secondary fuel pump top to crack or leak from the nipple. Cracked plastic covesr will be the first sign there could be a problem.

My solution was to install upgraded fuel pump covers available from: www.fuelconnectorfire.com

Have had no issues for 2 years now.
