I bought the car in June 2017 with 35,000 miles on it. It was a rental car previously. I purchased an extended warranty to cover me for 5 years or 75,000 additional miles(112,000 limit).
Around September 2017 I noticed a solid clunk sound, once a day, when I first drove the car for that day. I took my car in for an oil change in late Sept or early October and told the dealer about it. They couldn't find anything wrong and said the problem would have to get worse before it got better. I told them I typically have always done repairs on my cars myself and there was something wrong with the suspension. If something breaks and I get into an accident I was going to blame them. They kept the car overnight. They heard the sound the next day but couldn't figure out what it was. I was annoyed but got my oil service at next to no cost for my troubles. They said to bring it back when its worse.
I took my car in to the dealer in April 2018 for my 50k maintenance and advised them the problem was worse. They STILL could not hear any sounds(2 techs drove my car). I drove them in my car over a few speed bumps and the tech said "OMG, you have bad struts!" No sh!t, I tried to tell them that MONTHS ago. They replaced my front struts and some bumper/bushings on my rear struts and the car is driving smoothly once again.
Struts should last longer than 50K miles IMO and I hope this is a one off due to the car being abused when it was a rental.
