I noticed this problem the first winter that I owned the car. The vehicle's lug nuts are suppose to be 21mm. However, water gets into the decorative chrome within the lug nuts. Once the ambient temperature reaches freezing it expands therefore expanding the lug nuts. The manufacturer provided lug wrench no longer fits many of my lug nuts. However an imperial socket wrench (I believe 7/8) works as an interim size between 21mm and 22mm.
