The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler 300. While driving 70 mph, the sun roof separated from the vehicle without warning. The contact took the vehicle to savage 61 Chrysler Dodge, Jeep, Ram (4645 pottsville pike, reading, pa 19605, (855) 821-8752) and was informed that the sun roof was an aftermarket part; therefore, they were unable to assist. The contact spoke with the webasto company and was informed that the sun roof would be replaced per NHTSA campaign number: 12V316000 (visibility). The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 103,007.

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler 300. While driving 45 mph, there was an explosion and the sun roof shattered without being struck by a foreign object. The contact stated that glass particles were scattered throughout the vehicle. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to lake elsinore Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (located at 31400 auto center dr, lake elsinore, ca 92530, (951) 225-4749) and it was determined that the vehicle was outside of the warranty period. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

While driving at the posted speed limit of 70 mph the sun roof (which was closed at the time) suddenly ripped completely off of the car and went airborne. We were not able to recover it, and thankfully as far as we know no one behind us was injured. This easily could have killed someone in another car.
